With Treyarch back in control of multiplayer for the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, a handful of players got to go hands on with the recent changes made to the popular modes this past weekend during the Alpha test. One of the biggest changes from Modern Warfare is the return of the scorestreak system, which lets players keep their points even after a death. However, the latest iteration of the system seems to be confusing players and raising a few issues with exactly how it is supposed to work....

You read right: zombies were teased for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. We don’t know yet exactly what the mode is going to be or how it will be played, but we do know that the undead are going to be featured in Cold War. Data miners and leakers have been the main source of information relating to Cold War up until today when Treyarch and Activision held their worldwide reveal of the multiplayer mode for the game....

Call of Duty: World at War (aka the last WWII COD game) practically spawned a sub-franchise of its own when it shipped with a fun-focused cooperative mode that let players team up and hold their ground against waves of incoming zombies. This week, Activision has announced the dates for the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s open beta, as well as some new content for Modern Warfare. PlayStation 4 players will be able to try the open beta before other platforms, like they got to try the Black Ops Cold War Alpha earlier this month. The PlayStation 4 open beta will run from October 10 to October 12, on October 17 the beta will be available for all platforms....

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has been officially announced ahead of E3 2019, just as everyone suspected it would. Since the much-anticipated reveal, details regarding the game - such as maps, the very welcomed crossplay feature, and the killing of the season pass - have surfaced online and fans seem to be quite happy as they draw closer to the release of this new CoD. Sadly, though, Xbox players might be feeling a little jealous as all of the DLC for the game will be timed releases for the PlayStation 4 and will get on there an entire week before updates make it to Xbox or PC....

The future of RPGs on the Xbox Series X seems to be defined by a handful of games. Avowed is quickly becoming one of the most hotly anticipated games for the Xbox Series X, as speculation about its possible story is plentiful. While the teaser trailer did not reveal much, fans do know that the game will be set in Obsidian’s Pillars of Eternity setting, Eora, featured in the two isometric RPGs released in the series so far. Avowed’s protagonist has some big shoes to fill, especially as more players begin to hope that Obsidian’s next RPG could be the spiritual successor to Skyrim....

As November begins, it’s time once again for the Games Done Quick speedrunning community to come together for charity. Awesome Games Done Quick 2021 is planned to take place in early January and the team behind it are ready to share more information. Fans can expect seven days straight of speedruns, featuring well over 150 different game runs. Awesome Done Quick 2021 will art with a classic run of Aladdin for the Sega Mega Drive, followed by Alcatraz: Prison Escape, Alwa’s Legacy, and Banana Prince....

Every single Fallout game has been ridiculously huge. It’s become something of a trope that each game is so full of distractions that you never get to finishing the main quest, no matter how dire the consequences it may be. Finding your father takes a back seat to collecting bottle caps, rescuing your stolen son plays second fiddle to you establishing new towns. I’m not saying this from a place where I look down on it, I find the side quests tend to more rewarding and better written than most of the main plot....

This past Thursday, players who tuned into The Game Awards were treated to many new trailers for games coming in the near and far future. Between the Vin Diesel trailer for Ark 2 and the reveal of a new Perfect Dark game from Xbox studio The Initiative, it seems like players have quite a bit to look forward to over the next few years when it comes to new titles. However, one game trailer in particular seemed to grab the attention of Left 4 Dead fans around the globe....

The live stage musical adaptation of the 1985 classic Back to the Future is set to open in London during summer 2021. Adapted for the stage by Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale, Back to the Future The Musical recreates the sci fi comedy that sees teenager Marty McFly time travel in a DeLorean back to the 1950’s to reunite his parents before he’s wiped out of existence. The musical version includes new compositions from original soundtrack composer Alan Silvestri alongside highlights such as The Power of Love and Johnny B....

Baldur’s Gate III was officially announced during the first Google Stadia Connect event. The story of the Bhaalspawn saga was concluded in Baldur’s Gate: Throne of Bhaal and many years have passed in the official Dungeons & Dragons timeline for Faerun, so the game will have to go in a new direction. The game is being developed by Larian Studios of Divinity: Original Sin fame and the director is promising that the game will be the studio’s biggest title yet....

The Call of Duty: Warzone cheating problem has been a major topic of discussion over recent months, with PC cross-play allowing for easier hacking on console matches too. Activision and Infinity Ward have been hard at work banning Call of Duty: Warzone cheaters in response, though one banned player has now threatened legal action if his ban is not revoked. Activision rolled out bans for users of Call of Duty: Warzone’s EngineOwning cheats at the end of September, removing thousands of hackers from the game....

Hot on the heels of Microsoft’s official confirmation of a May event to unveil the next-generation Xbox, an event where their rumored partnership with Electronic Arts may also be detailed - one that may involve timed DLC exclusivity for Battlefield 4 DLC - another leak has offered more credence to the game’s features. The features were rumored before, even included in previous games, but the latest leaked poster looks more official, even though it’s not directly from EA....

Act 3 of Battletoads features more collectibles than any other act in the game, 36 in total, though none of the collectibles are particularly difficult. The collectibles are spread across six levels, each of which has a speedrun objective that rewards you with one collectible. Act 3 is different in gameplay, with three of the six collectible levels being Galaga knockoff shoot ’em ups, and the other three being puzzle-platformers. The three shoot ’em ups levels will need to be completed in under eight minutes each, which is incredibly easy and will likely come naturally....
