Like the Battlefield franchise, Call of Duty: WW2 is looking to shake up the current state of the franchise by taking things back to its roots. This year’s edition takes players back to World War II and focuses more on dealing with the horrors of war rather than being a super soldier taking on an entire army. Many staples of the franchise are getting overhauled such as regenerating health, forcing players to rely on teammates to restore health and ammo....

After thirteen main series titles and some rather infamous scenes of brutality, it should surprise no-one to learn that Call of Duty: WW2 is going to be a violent game. That said, the newly-released ESRB rating for the game seems to imply that this iteration in the long-running franchise might just be the most graphic one yet, as players explore the horrors of the Second World War. The Metal Gear Solid franchise has provided gamers with some of the greatest bits of storytelling in the history of the industry. The MMORPG world is largely dominated by Blizzard’s World of Warcraft, but occasionally, other games in the genre manage to make a name for themselves. One MMO growing in popularity as of late is Black Desert Online, which caught the attention of Twitch streamer Sodapoppin. In terms of long running MMO titles, CCP Games is up there with over 15 years of commitment to their flagship franchise, Eve Online. While the company has supported the game successfully for nearly two decades, they’ll now be working alongside another studio whose history is also focused on the MMO genre in an effort to further expand upon the current vision of Eve Online. CCP Games, best known for Eve Online and more recently Eve: Valkyrie, has been acquired by Black Desert Online developer Pearl Abyss for $425 million....

Blaine is still my favourite example of Pokemon’s attempt at eccentricity. We usually get characters who are jumpy or jittery in some way, from stuttered dialogue to the sheer velocity at which they hurtle from one side of the screen to the other. I’m thinking of Pokemon Platinum’s Looker - who I also love, but he’s no Blaine - or even the likes of Peony in Sword & Shield’s Crown Tundra DLC....

It’s clear to the naked eye that Borderlands 3 DLC is working off at least one pattern for development, namely that a Vault Hunter is to return as a NPC in each. Timothy appeared in the first one, while Gaige returned in the second, so it’ll be interesting to see which Borderlands 3 characters come back in DLC. That said, there appears to be at least one more pattern at play....
