Fans of Battlerite have been waiting on news on a new mode, and that news arrived today: Battlerite Royale is coming in September as its own game. The game will use the known champions and basic mechanics of Battlerite but revamp the champions’ abilities and interface from the ground up. Because so much is being changed, Battlerite developer Stunlock thought it best to make the battle royale mode an entirely separate experience....

The Entertainment Software Ratings Board has posted new content ratings for two Bethesda collections: one featuring the recent titles in the Wolfenstein series and another the includes the recent works of Dishonored developer Arkane Studios. The Wolfenstein collection (referred to as Wolfenstein: The Alternative History Bundle) will seemingly contain Wolfenstein: The New Order, Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, and Wolfenstein: Youngblood. The ESRB rates the collection for Xbox Series X, while a retail listing on Best Buy’s website indicates that it will also be available for PS4 and Xbox One....

Few games ever reach the heights of literary reference that BioShock does. The original has stood the test of time because of its gameplay and innovative setting. Chadwick Boseman, beloved actor and star of the highest grossing solo superhero movie of all time, Black Panther, has passed away in his Los Angeles home after a four-year struggle with colon cancer. The actor was 43. Confirming the actor’s death to the Associated Press late Friday evening, Boseman’s publicist Nicki Fioravante said Boseman’s wife and family was by his side when he passed. Boseman had never publicly commented or acknowledged being diagnosed with cancer....

Try it before you buy it. It’s a slogan that applies to all different types of products, from cars to food to clothing. For video games, trying before you buy typically means a short demo. Blizzard Entertainment, however, is taking the try it before you buy it concept to even greater extremes with their spawning feature. It’s been included in past Blizzard releases like Warcraft II and the original StarCraft, and now spawning is available in StarCraft 2....

Blizzard made the sudden announcement that it’s ending paid content for StarCraft 2. The game, a formative pillar of esports, will still see balance updates for the foreseeable future. The news comes from a Thursday night blog post where Blizzard assures fans that it’s still committed to supporting StarCraft 2 “for the long-term.” This will come in the form of season rolls and the occasional balance update. Blizzard also makes it a point to say that StarCraft 2 esports is safe for now, due largely to the activities of partners GSL and ESL Gaming....

Although Blizzard only just announced their competitive shooter Overwatch a few months ago it looks like they are already facing a bit of trouble. Not major trouble, mind you, but we wouldn’t be surprised if the game re-appeared with a new title sometime soon. According to the US Trademark and Patent Office, Blizzard’s trademark for Overwatch has been suspended due to a conflict. Apparently another company, Innovis Labs Inc., filed a trademark for the same term before Blizzard did and therefore they are entitled to the name....

Due to “emergency maintenance” being done on Bloodborne, players should expect the servers for From Software’s action-RPG to be offline for several days. Bloodborne fans may have experienced a setback while taking on the action-RPG last night, for there are now reports of players having been booted to the title screen during playtime, with server maintenance being cited as the reason. Although Bloodborne’s offline components remain intact, the team at From Software has stated that the game’s online modes ought to be down for “a few days....

The cast of Bodies Bodies Bodies was encouraged to play “the game” on one of their first nights together. “Bodies Bodies Bodies” is technically a fictional activity—an intentionally potent blend of all those toxic college drinking games you might’ve played back in the day (or still do). In the new film, they’ve been distilled into a veritable car wreck of bad decisions. In other words, “the game” is the perfect setting for an A24 horror-comedy....

Switch owners were recently graced with Bubble Bobble 4 Friends, a retro revival of Taito’s classic bubble popping series that added support for four-players. Featuring charming artwork and cute music, the game was fairly enjoyable by all accounts. Maybe it didn’t reinvent the wheel, but does Bubble Bobble need to? If you were saddened by its seeming Switch exclusivity, you can finally let out a sigh of relief. Taito has announced that the co-op action title will be heading to PS4 by the end of 2020....

While not as controversial as the media made it out to be, the original Bully was a different look at open world gaming from the guys who brought you the Grand Theft Auto series. Even though many news outlets condemned the game for being a “bully simulator,” it turned out that the main focus of the game was fighting back AGAINST the bullies. Even so, it turned out to be an enormously fun game, allowing the player to experience a setting brand new to sandbox games....

A promotion on the Bungie store benefiting wildfire relief efforts has been extended until October 18th, 2020. The heart-shaped official Destiny 2 collectible pin comes with an in-game code for the exclusive Destiny emblem, “Benevolent Hue,” to be delivered via email. The listing also indicates another emblem, “Planet of Peace,” may be included.
