The Fairy Fountain theme is one of the most iconic pieces of music in gaming, not just The Legend of Zelda. While the song itself has seen little changes over the years, the Great Fairies themselves have evolved radically since their first appearance in the original Zelda on NES. A Link to the Past made the Fairies more graceful, Ocarina of Time added a certain energy to their depiction, and The Wind Waker intentionally played up how fantastical the Great Fairies are in concept....

Over the weekend, a series of Destiny leaks surfaced that revealed forthcoming content that developer Bungie had yet to say much about. The leaks, which included both screenshots and video, highlighted new Raids and Strike missions, many of which are believed to be tied to Destiny’s upcoming DLC expansions. At the time of the leak, most expected that Bungie was none too happy with its contents. Given the strong ties to pre-existing DLC names it was all but confirmed that this invisible content (to most) was actually part of their forthcoming content plans....

One of the biggest debates raging in the Call of Duty community is whether or not Call of Duty: Modern Warfare should use skill-based matchmaking, or SBMM. Many Call of Duty community members have spoken out against SBMM, saying that it worsens the overall multiplayer experience. Despite this push-back, SBMM has remained in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, but fans directing their frustration toward Infinity Ward are not blaming the right people....

On Monday, August 10, Activision finally started to kick off its promotional campaign for the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, sending a mysterious crate to a Twitch streamers, gaming publications, and influencers with clues that eventually led them to a teaser site. It seems the next big tease for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is set to take place on Friday, August 10, but in the meantime, fans have been taking a close look at the teaser site and finding some interesting details in the process....

Activision Blizzard, the parent company of Call of Duty, recently brought on TeamSpeak as the official broadcast communications partner for the Call of Duty League. TeamSpeak will be integrated into all of the Call of Duty League events and will be utilized by players during their matches, for at least the next three years. One of the advantages that TeamSpeak claims to have is seamless connectivity, as the service allows for both online and offline communication; which means, players won’t have to worry about connectivity issues during a match on stage in a venue, or at home in their training facilities....

At the tail end of 2017, we reported on the disastrous news of an innocent man being shot and killed after getting inadvertently tied to a swatting “prank” gone horribly wrong following an online Call of Duty match. After this incident, an arrest was later made, and now the suspect has officially been charged with involuntary manslaughter for having his hand in the events that led to a person’s death....

Anyone who is a fan of the those old Capcom and Disney collaborations back on the original NES are likely freaking out right now. Capcom has just announced The Disney Afternoon Collection via a very appropriately designed retro style trailer. Included are six classic games that have been enhanced with new features and a sharper look. This nostalgic overload will release this Spring on April 18, 2017. The Disney Afternoon Collection comes with Darkwing Duck, DuckTales, DuckTales 2, TaleSpin, Chip ’n Dale, and Chip ’n Dale 2....

Avowed is Obsidian Entertainment’s upcoming first-person fantasy RPG, set in the world of Eora from the studio’s Pillars of Eternity games. While the previous two games took place in Dyrwood and the Deadfire Archipelago, Avowed will take place primarily in the Living Lands. The Living Lands are a frontier island in the far north of Eora. While Obsidian has given fans little information about the game’s setting, the information the developer has published doesn’t just give a glimpse into the backstory of the game, but some of the mechanics which players might be able to expect in Avowed....

As one of the best selling video game franchises of all time, and definitively the best life simulation ever, The Sims franchise was born in the year 2000. Since then, it’s grown to earn over $2.5 billion in revenue, and become the root of multiple spin-offs, mods and expansions. There is no real story to the game, the plot is what you make of it. Also, much of the world is pre-made, so there are a ton of moving parts already in motion....

Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor is one of the best Lord of the Rings video games ever made. Combining great storytelling with an immersive open-world and a complex fighting system helped make this one of the better games to come out in the last decade. As good as any game is though, it’s always fun to be able to mix things up with mods. Sadly, Shadow of Mordor is a notoriously difficult game to mod meaning that there aren’t too many options when it comes to freshening up the experience....

Larian Studios, developer of the popular Divinity: Original Sin series of RPGs, has both good and bad news about Baldur’s Gate 3 to share with fans today. The good news comes in the form of new information regarding Baldur’s Gate 3’s “romance and companionship” features, which will be dropped after today. As for the bad news, Larian is confirming that Baldur’s Gate 3 will unfortunately not be able to meet its previously announced launch date for Early Access....

Modders are continuing to take it upon themselves to deliver a game to its respective community that meets all their needs. At some point in the future, it may not even matter if a game receives a poor launch, because you know modders will be on hand to pick up the slack. A recent example is the revival of Batman: Arkham Origins’ multiplayer mode, which modders have now returned to the game....

Behavior has been updating older Dead by Daylight maps for months now, and it looks like survivors will enjoy the same glow-up. In a series of updates on Twitter, the studio shared just a few of its upcoming model updates. Dead by Daylight has already remastered several of the game’s iconic killing grounds.
