At BlizzCon 2018, Blizzard Entertainment surprised fans and critics alike by announcing Diablo Immortal. Immortal, a mobile game, would bring the series’ RPG, loot-collecting action to smartphones and tablets. Blizzard is giving its game launcher Battle.net a visual overhaul, the first major redesign for the platform in eight years. The new layout switches around many components in an effort to provide a more streamlined experience. Originally launching back in 1996, Battle.net has always served as the online interface for Blizzard’s various PC titles. Blizzard briefly dropped the Battle.net name in 2016, but quickly backtracked a few months later. Borderlands 3 newest DLC, called Guns, Love, and Tentacles, features all sorts of Borderlands craziness. It includes a Eldrich-horror-infested gay wedding, which is one of the weirdest phrases ever. The DLC also features old characters, new weapons, a higher level cap, and some achievements for players to complete. Riot Games has been kicking development of VALORANT into high gear lately, as patch 0.50 is primed to launch so soon after the release 0.49 and the introduction of ranked play. Points, or Jolts as they are called in Call of Duty: WW2, are primarily earned by shooting and killing zombies. EA has recruited Call of Duty’s former general manager to help it further expand the Battlefield franchise. Byron Beede, the former general manager of Call of Duty, has been hired by EA to head up its work on Battlefield. EA officially announced the major hire this week, explaining that Beede has been brought on board to signal its commitment to the Battlefield franchise and continue its growth.
