Reviews begin rolling in just ahead of DICE and Electronic Arts releasing its first-person shooter Battlefield 1, and we compile several critics’ receptions of the game. With the gaming world on the cusp of the receiving Battlefield 1, fans are most likely wondering whether or not DICE and Electronic Arts is worth purchasing upon its official release date tomorrow. Thankfully, numerous outlets have already begun publishing their impressions of the first-person shooter ahead of its launch, and it seems as if most critics have enjoyed Battlefield 1....

A little while ago, I wrote about how my history with Mass Effect leaned heavily towards Renegade. Renegade Shep is much cooler on the face of it - they shoot first and ask questions never, and they take no shit. Our own Andrea Shearon already wrote about how a lot of the Renegade decisions don’t make sense, but why would making sense matter when you’re the biggest badass in the universe?...

Days Gone is officially behind Bend Studio, with the team confirmed to be working on a brand new IP. Hermen Hulst, head of PlayStation Studio, made the announcement during a recent interview on the PlayStation Blog, although the project is still shrouded in mystery. According to Hulst, new IP is “the lifeblood of gaming.” As such, PlayStation is dedicated to pumping out as many high-quality, new games as it possibly can – and it seems that Bend Studio is the latest to join the new IP fun....

2016’s Darkest Dungeon is a role-playing dungeon crawler game made by Red Hook Studios. It first launched for PC but has since been released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and iOS. This gothic-style game has plenty of H.P Lovecraft vibes as players battle through dungeons with their collection of heroes who can succumb to their insanity and gain negative traits or even die from madness. A sequel was announced last year, and while fans are still desperately waiting to get their hands on the new game, they can keep themselves happy by refreshing the original with some new mods for the PC version....

After feedback from the community and lengthy internal testing, Black Desert has increased the monster density on Xbox One and PS4. The move puts the console version of Black Desert on equal footing with PC, which had previously allowed for larger groups of monsters. To account for the increase in monster numbers, the respawn timer has been “increased proportionally.” Last February, the Black Desert team reduced the number of monsters that spawned on consoles to improve the game’s performance....

If you’re a fan of virtual reality - or getting ready to dip your toes into the platform with the release of the Oculus Quest 2 - Resolution Games is a developer that you’ll want to be sure to know. The Stockholm, Sweden-based game studio has already seen success with VR titles such as Acron: Attack of the Squirrels!, Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs, and Cook-Out: A Sandwich Tale, with its most recent release, Blaston, available now for the Oculus Quest....

We’ve known for a while that Warner Bros. is setting up a Blue Beetle movie. We’ve also known that it will be one of the films that will bypass a traditional theatrical release and go direct to HBO Max (see also: a Batgirl movie and Birds of Prey spinoff Black Canary). Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer (Miss Bala) is writing the script, with Angel Manuel Soto (Charm City Kings) directing, and Blue Beetle will focus on the Jaime Reyes version of the character, making him the first Latinx superhero to lead his own movie....

Captain Marvel actor Brie Larson has voiced her support for disabled gamers charity, AbleGamers. In a video shared to her Twitter account, Larson encouraged fans to donate to the charity saying, “using the power of video games to bring people together and provide people with disabilities custom gaming setups so that they can enjoy video games too is just absolutely incredible”. Larson is no stranger to the gaming community. A vocal gamer herself, she’s known for being a fan of Animal Crossing and Fortnite—she even recently got her own Fortnite Locker bundle....

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is shaping up to be an interesting project. Despite having only two years to make the game, Treyarch, Raven Software, and some additional studios are doing their best to make fans happy with the return of the campaign and Zombies modes. It looks like multiplayer fans will also have something to be excited for, as Black Ops Cold War’s multiplayer is supposedly launching with more than 10 maps....

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 2 is on the horizon, and the developers have been slowly revealing new content. With Season 2 impacting Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty: Warzone, there is a huge boost of new content planned to be available. One reveal that has received mixed reviews is the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War maps as fans express mixed opinions online....

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 1 is set to start on December 10, at which point fans can expect an influx of new content for the game. Activision has yet to make any kind of announcement as to what fans can expect from Season 1 specifically, but some new leaks may have let the cat out of the bag early. Apparently, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 1 will be bringing back the fan favorite Raid map from Call of Duty: Black Ops 2....

Anyone jumping into the Black Ops Cold War alpha this weekend will quickly notice two things: skill-based matchmaking is back, and snipers are ridiculously overpowered. As it turns out, the snipers in Black Ops Cold War were made so strong on purpose. Treyarch developer Tony Flame, who has already discussed the controversial new scorestreak system of Black Ops Cold War, quickly jumped on the topic of sniper rifle strength when seeing numerous fan complaints pouring in on Twitter....

A new patch has been released for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare that fixes several bugs and makes a few tweaks to Warzone as well. This Modern Warfare patch addresses many of the complains players have had over the past week and reverts a controversial Warzone change that was initially made a few days ago. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has received several patches and hotfixes after its huge April 28 update, which required to download a 15 GB data pack on all platforms on top of an already hefty download for the update itself....

One of the most regularly discussed topics in the Assassin’s Creed fandom is where the series could hypothetically venture to next. From Ancient Egypt to Ancient Greece, to Victorian England and Renaissance Italy, Assassin’s Creed has long since established itself as an intellectual property that is highly concerned with the history it focuses on. Sure, there’s some embellishment here and there - Leo DaVinci is your best mate in Assassin’s Creed 2 - but in general the depictions are pretty damn sound....

Astro’s Playroom is out now, offering a surprisingly strong gameplay loop that takes players through PlayStation’s history of tech and games. One of the many franchises referenced within Astro’s Playroom is Tekken, with the legendary fighting series seeing a cameo supervised by the game’s director. With Tekken 7’s fourth season pass recently kicking off, the franchise is alive and well, making a cameo within Astro’s Playroom extremely well-deserved. Katsuhiro Harada oversaw development of the easter egg, supervising the Astro’s Playroom team as they built the reference to his series....

Battlefield has always been one of the more intense gaming franchises, but EA and DICE seem to be doubling down on the visceral action with their new World War 2-Themed shooter, Battlefield 5. DICE gave us a quick peek at this action in the reveal trailer that launched during their Battlefield V event earlier today. The trailer kicks off with a bang, as a group of soldiers rushes to a house while their vehicle is attacked, losing allies and dodging bullets the entire time....

The release of BioShock: The Collection is just a week away and the latest trailer takes players back to a beautifully remastered version of Infinite’s Columbia. BioShock: The Collection was nothing more than a rumor for many months, but now that the game is just one short week away from release, the gameplay videos and trailers are raining down on fans. Blightbound, a dungeon crawler from Ronimo Games, will have an open beta running from July 24-26. Published by Devolver Digital, the game is due to be released by Steam Early Access next week, however, fans can try it out for free this weekend. A multiplayer dungeon crawler, Blightbound entreats three heroes to leave the safety of their mountain refuge to confront the Blight, an evil fog that that covers the land below....
