Bethesda has released a piece of promotional art for its upcoming E3 2017 Showcase event that appears to be teasing at least two major announcements. The art shows a theme park named Bethesdaland and features several rides, each designed around a current Bethesda franchise. Two rides, however, remain nameless and are “Under Construction” or “Coming Soon.” It’s clear that Bethesda’s E3 keynote event will be packed with announcements and reveals, for games both secret and known....

Nintendo has finally lifted the final veil of secrecy on the Nintendo Wii U and beginning last night, we began learning the official features, pricing and release dates for the upcoming console for Japan, North America and Europe. As part of the North America presentation in New York earlier today, Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg took to the stage to talk about his company’s plans to support the Wii U. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is upon us, and with that the next generation of Zombies as well. With the Aether storyline concluded, the Dark Aether story is coming in to replace it. As we’ve seen in Black Ops 4, remakes of old Zombies maps are on the table, especially since the launch map Die Maschine has us re-visiting Nacht Der Untoten. As we also saw with Black Ops 4, however, just because a map can be remade doesn’t mean it should be....

This year’s BlizzCon kicked the weekend off with various announcements, including titles aimed at the nostalgia of long-time Blizzard fans. Burning Crusade Classic, an expansion to World of Warcraft Classic, aims to give veteran players and curious newcomers the chance to experience the first expansion to the popular MMO the way it was in 2007. Diablo 2: Resurrected, led by former developer Vicarious Visions, was officially announced with the promise of keeping the core Diablo 2 gameplay intact....

Blizzard Entertainment has announced it is seeking employees to work on an unannounced ambitious triple-A multiplayer game. The mysterious new project will be released on PC and consoles. Recent years haven’t been easy for Blizzard fans, as the company hasn’t released a new game since 2016’s Overwatch. Even projects announced long ago, including Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4, have not received any clear indication for a release window. Previously, the company noted that “dev cycles are longer, dev teams are bigger, and the demands of running existing successful games are larger”, but it still seems Blizzard is planning ahead....

The COVID-19 pandemic has altered the landscape of the video game industry, with conventions including GDC and E3 being canceled and more likely to go before things return to some sort of normal. That’s why Blizzard is transparently acknowledging that BlizzCon 2020’s future isn’t certain. In a statement issued today, Blizzard confirmed that the late-year convention is still planned, but that could change. “A gaming convention is probably the last thing on people’s minds right now,” is how Blizzard starts its message to its community....

On Wednesday, Blizzard announced that it would hold the Overwatch Student Animation Festival, which will take place through 2020 and early 2021 and include a prize pool of more than $29,000. The event, which will be open to students from across Europe, will involve creating animated videos of Overwatch characters based on a series of monthly themes. The videos will eventually be featured on the Overwatch website, and are going to be judged by the public, who will select their favorite animation....

The release of Borderlands 2 might have brought an end to the drought of loot and cooperative play in the shooter world, but apparently the retail version of the game was just the first salvo. Since being released to sterling reviews, the campaign has the inspired Mechromancer Class, and the full-blown expansion following Captain Scarlett and her Pirate’s Booty. Obviously Gearbox Software has something special planned for fans of Borderlands 2 come the new year, and while the next dose of DLC has yet to be officially announced, the amount of new weapons and character skins from Sir Hammerlock’s Big Game Hunt is sure to keep players happy....

Borderlands 3 was just recently announced, and while the full unveiling of Gearbox’s looter shooter forthcoming on April 3 there’s still a surprising amount of information available. The two Borderlands 3 trailers currently available, the Mask of Mayhem teaser trailer and the announcement trailer, are rich with fine detail. One aspect of Borderlands 3 that’s of particular focus in both trailers, that being the game’s villains and enemies. Those who watched Borderlands 3’s announcement are likely now familiar with the game’s two antagonists, a pair of villains Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford himself confirmed to be the “big baddies....

Bravely Default 2 is a long and difficult JRPG in the tradition of early Final Fantasy titles. As such, most of the player’s time with the game will be dedicated to learning how to beat difficult bosses like Bernard. However, it’s nice to take a break every now and again from the grinding and Job experimentation of Bravely Default 2 and do something less stressful. When that’s the case, players can actually try their hands at a game within a game....

Publisher Headup Games and developer ClockStone Software have revealed the release date for their surprising crossover, Bridge Constructor: The Walking Dead. The new official gameplay trailer revealed the game’s release date as November 19, launching on the Xbox Series consoles, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC via Steam, iOS, and Android. Owners of the new PS5 don’t need to worry about missing out on this opportunity, however, as the game will release on the console shortly after the rest....

Popular indie adventure title Bugsnax launched update 1.06, patching a variety of minor issues that improve the overall gameplay for the offbeat creature capture simulator. Chief among the new features is the ability for players to transfer their Bugsnax save files from a PS4 to the PS5, allowing fans to upgrade to next-gen without losing all of their hours spent ensnaring sentient strawberries and donuts. Bugsnax originally released as the first free PlayStation Plus game for the PS5 at launch in November 2020....
