Details on Obsidian Entertainment’s upcoming RPG Avowed are still few and far between. At the very least, however, it’s been confirmed to take place in the same world as Obsidian’s highly acclaimed Pillars of Eternity series. Avowed is set to take place in the world of Eora, and specifically in a place called the Living Lands, a frontier said to be rife with different factions and roving mercenaries. Naturally, a game like Avowed is guaranteed to be full of enemies for players to fight, but what will those enemies be?...

What is arguably the world’s most well-known speed-running event, Awesome Games Done Quick, is officially live for 2019, and it not only has its sights on attendees playing video games as fast as possible, but also raising money for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. Starting today, AGDQ 2019 is scheduled to have folks speed run titles for 24 hours a day for a full seven days straight, with the whole shebang set wrap up at some point in the early hours of next Sunday, January 13, 2019....

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor brought Assassin’s Creed-style action to the world of The Lord of the Rings in 2014. The game followed a ranger from Gondor named Talion, who is massacred along with his family when Sauron’s army takes control of the Black Gate. Talion is brought back to life by an elven wraith who has lost his own memories. It is revealed that the wraith is actually Celebrimbor: the elven lord who taught Sauron the art of ringcraft....

Ever since launching in 1997, Grand Theft Auto (GTA) has taken the gaming world by storm as the critically acclaimed franchise has created and released fifteen different installments within the series, over the time period of just 20 years. That’s right, the Grand Theft Auto series has launched a game on almost every modern day console that has ever existed over the past 20 years. Banjo-Kazooie is one of those series that has found its way into the retro hall of fame. The series first debuted in 1998 for the Nintendo 64, where the colorful character duo became Nintendo mascots. Afterward, Microsoft bought the developer of the game Rare, and the franchise switched hands. Before all of that, though, the game got a direct sequel named Banjo-Tooie that has a massive open world, especially for the days of the Nintendo 64....

Arkane Studios and Bethesda officially announce that the hotly anticipated sequel to 2012’s Dishonored is scheduled to release before the end of 2016. Bethesda has announced that Dishonored 2 will release worldwide this November. The sequel to Arkane Studios’ 2012 assassination romp was first announced at E3 last year — although a botched stream a few days earlier did spoil the surprise. Dishonored 2 will see the return of Corvo, the disgraced protagonist of the first game who was forced to don a mask and take vengeance on those who wronged him....

The death of Chadwick Boseman at the age of 42 from cancer is a tragic loss for the entertainment world. It’s remarkable that a man who played such historically significant figures as Jackie Robinson, James Brown, and Thurgood Marshall may have found his greatest and most resonant role in a fictional character: King T’Challa of Wakanda, Marvel’s Black Panther. Ryan Coogler, who directed and co-wrote the screenplay for 2018’s Black Panther movie, has penned a touching eulogy for Boseman....

The long-awaited release of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will be coming with a $10 DLC pack upon its release on June 18th, with the majority of the Kickstarter’s backers supporting the decision. In the post-launch, creator Koji Igarashi has affirmed that new characters, modes, and cosmetics will be coming as free additions to the game. The new modes that will be released in the future are varied and will cater to a wide variety of player requests....
