A rumor states that Blizzard has canceled a first-person shooter game set in the Starcraft universe that had been developed for the past two years. Kotaku writes that three people who were familiar with the projects in development at the studio provided the information, stating that the cancellation was to shift resources into both the Diablo and Overwatch franchises. Code-named Ares, the project was to be “like Battlefield in the Starcraft universe,” according to one of the anonymous sources....

Following the release of Overwatch, Blizzard currently have a number of job openings available, all of which are related to an unannounced Diablo project. Prior to its release in 2012, Diablo 3 had a notorious development process that spanned over a decade and involved at least three substantial revisions. Given that Blizzard isn’t exactly a large studio with multiple teams that can work on its various properties, and the fact that the developer has just released its massively-popular first-person shooter Overwatch, it stands to reason that it will be a little while before we see a follow-up to Diablo 3....

Blizzard is currently at the behest of a DDoS attack which is causing high latency and disconnection issues for players who are, in particular, playing World of Warcraft. These issues have reportedly been going on for a few days now, but the DDoS was just announced today. DDoS stands for ‘distributed denial-of-service’ and these attacks tend to flood IP addresses and networks to make them unusable, disrupting the host’s services. This isn’t the first time that Blizzard has had to deal with one of these attacks....

Gearbox Software has released the long-awaited Borderlands 3 DLC 2, which gives players a brand new planet to explore named Xylourgos. The name of the planet has raised some eyebrows as being particularly hard to spell and pronounce, but it’s not just gibberish. Borderlands 3 writer Sam Winkler has offered some new insight as to why Gearbox Software decided to name the new DLC 2 planet Xylourgos. Apparently, there were a couple of different reasons why the Borderlands 3 team decided to name Xylourgos....

Indeed, fans are now diving into this remastered version of the original Borderlands and are powering up their characters with loot and levels. The Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War PlayStation 4 early-access beta launched today, and players are noticing a major difference from the alpha. The alpha ran from September 18 to 20, exclusively on PlayStation 4, and broke the record for the most-downloaded alpha or beta in Call of Duty history. Ever since Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare hit the scene, Prestige Mode has been a staple of the popular first-person shooter franchise.
