Every once in a while a horror movie comes along that takes audiences—and the box office—by surprise. Barbarian, written and directed by Zach Cregger and starring Georgina Campbell, Bill Skarsgård, and Justin Long, seems to be 2022’s out-of-nowhere surprise hit thanks to a wildly fun narrative structure with some genuinely jaw-dropping twists and turns. To say more about the film’s story would ruin the fun, and that sort of tight-lipped response from folks recommending the movie is part of the reason the film has grossed over $40 million worldwide on a $4 million budget....

On the surface, the Xbox Series X and S are the most straightforward modern consoles on the market. Aesthetically, they are nothing more than 3D rectangles, and their controllers are almost identical to Xbox One controllers (save for textured grips and an extra button on the face). Following in the footsteps of just about every other EA game to date, Mass Effect 3 will require players to input an online pass in order to access the mutliplayer portion of the RPG-shooter. As is the case with previous titles, the online passes will only come bundled with new copies of the game, meaning those who plan to purchase the title used will need to pay an unspecified amount in order to access the multiplayer component....

News on BioWare’s new property was one of the most-wanted reveals from E3 2017, and the expo so far has not disappointed. The new game, called Anthem, was officially revealed via a teaser trailer during the EA Play 2017 event, before more news was confirmed during the Xbox showcase. Although the specifics of the game have yet to be unveiled, some potential discoveries may be found from old quotes, such as the fact that the title is likely to have a public beta....

For some reason, Seinfeld has been singled out as the perfect material out of which to craft a horror game. Sinfeld Remastered is the title of said game, and we have indie developer RareBird Games to thank (blame?) for it. Not only is this game an actual thing, but it’s also now destined for PlayStation 5 consoles as a standalone game. The game started as a fan project on PS-exclusive game creation platform Dreams....

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Blackout beta is scheduled to begin for PlayStation 4 users on September 10, and Treyarch is finally pulling the curtain back on some of the mode’s more intimate details. For example, we now know all of the vehicles that will be featured in Blackout. As revealed today by Treyarch, the Blackout battle royale mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will have four different vehicles to use at launch and in the beta, including two land vehicles, one sea vehicle, and one air vehicle....

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is already breaking franchise records less than a week after release. In fact, it broke a major record on its first day. According to Activision, Black Ops 4 broke the publisher’s record for day one digital sales. More players purchased Black Ops 4 digitally through its first day of release than have purchased any previous game in the Call of Duty franchise, any Destiny release, any Skylanders or Cabela’s....

We’re just a few months away from the return of Black Ops to the Call of Duty franchise. Black Ops Cold War will be a direct sequel to the first Black Ops game, continuing the story of iconic characters like Frank Woods, Alex Mason, and Russell Adler. And the latest trailer showcases what we can expect in the early part of the upcoming game. At Trabzon Airfield in Turkey, the three Black Ops commandos have finally tracked down Arash Kadivar, a mysterious figure with links to Perseus....

The popular brawler Brawlhalla has finally received its official launch date for mobile platforms and will be available on August 6 featuring full cross-play between PC and console versions. Columbia Records will release Bruce Springsteen’s new album Letter to You on Oct. 23, according to Rolling Stone. The 12-track album is the first to feature The E Street Band since High Hopes in 2014. As an introductory salutation to his 20th studio LP, Springsteen released the title-track lead single “Letter to You.” “I love the emotional nature of ‘Letter to You,’” Springsteen said in a statement, via Rolling Stone. “And I love the sound of the E Street Band playing completely live in the studio, in a way we’ve never done before, and with no overdubs....

Gaming journalists at E3 2016 discover screenshots and release window information for the unannounced Bulletstorm Remaster on the Microsoft press USB. We learned last month that Gears of War: Judgment and Bulletstorm developer People Can Fly is working on two new games. It looks like one of those games has been outed as Bulletstorm Remaster, and the game was apparently set for a reveal during Microsoft’s E3 2016 press conference, but must have been pulled from the proceedings at the last second....
