Festival of the Lost is coming back this October to Destiny 2, marking the first time the Halloween-themed event will come to the game after it skipped last year. In its weekly blog update, developer Bungie revealed that Festival of the Lost will return on Tuesday, October 16. Bungie was light on the details, saying that a full reveal of the event is coming next week. At long last famed Halo developer Bungie has unveiled their bold, ambitious, decade-long plan beginning with Destiny. Since Destiny was officially announced and detailed there has been little insight or further explanation of characters or the game’s plot. Thanks to GDC 2013, that’s beginning to change. It may be a long time before Bungie talks at length about the story or scale of their “mythic science fiction” adventure, but at least fans now have more details about the playable races and classes at their disposal....

Avatar: The Last Airbender was one of the highest pinnacles of Nickelodeon’s cartoon-making. Not only was it exemplary in its unique concept, it was also a master of balancing serious issues with gut-tickling comedy. A great episode could make me laugh like there was no tomorrow one moment, and then make me sober up at the moral choices the characters had to face in the next. I cannot stop recommending this show....
Fans of Obsidian Entertainment might be surprised to learn that its new game Avowed will become a first-person action title. After all, this move directly positions them against games such as Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls series, known for its first-person fantasy gameplay. Given Obsidian’s rep for acclaimed titles such as Pillars of Eternity, it seems Obsidian might give players a more narrative-intensive take on the FPS fantasy genre. Texas-based Gearbox Software rocketed to success with Borderlands in 2009, livening up the sometimes tedious world of first-person shooters by embracing the absurd nature of a game that pit players against tiny angry psychopaths wearing hockey masks and billed itself as featuring “17 million guns.” Borderlands became a huge hit and launched a franchise that continues to prosper, but Gearbox Software has had some rough patches in recent years as well, including the should-have-stayed-dead Duke Nukem Forever and the disastrous Aliens: Colonial Marines....
