The wait is finally over. BioWare today has announced a release date and a set of three subscription options for their highly anticipated MMO, Star Wars: The Old Republic. While previous reports this week suggested that the title might slip to 2012, gamers should be excited to know that 2011 is the year. Unfortunately, though, The Old Republic won’t be releasing until near the end of the year, December 20th to be exact, but any solid release date is better than no release date....

A new BioWare tweet has fans wondering if the developer is teasing a new Mass Effect game. The game would be the first new release in the series since 2017’s Mass Effect: Andromeda, which was heavily criticized for its story and facial animations. On Twitter, BioWare posted another song from the Mass Effect soundtrack as part of its #MassRelays series. BioWare says that “the infinite possibilities of space have always been inspiring to us” and tells fans to sit back and think of the cosmos while they listen to the song....

Call of Duty: Points, the franchise’s premium microtransaction currency, will be returning in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 according to the game’s pre-order listing on Battle.net. COD Points have historically been used to unlock various in-game elements like supply drops or crates with real money rather than through gameplay. The Battle.net listing notes that COD Points may not be available at launch, but rather added at a later date, which is something past Call of Duty titles have done as well....

Nintendo has spent most of 2021 so far celebrating 25 years of Pokemon, and that includes adding new merchandise. Australian fashion brand BlackMilk is back again with more looks from Nintendo, and this time it’s for a Pokemon collection that goes on sale March 2 in Australia. BlackMilk’s latest Pokemon line is actually a continuation of one that already launched in 2020. The first collection sold out, multiple times, but as of right now it does look like those first outfits have restocked again with some sizes running low or already gone....

Activision Blizzard is currently one of the largest and most successful video game companies in the world, consistently putting out the top-selling game each year. However, according to analyst firm Cowen & Company, Activision Blizzard’s stock price may drop a bit in 2018, even with the possibility of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 releasing next fall. In a note to investors, Cowen & Company revealed its predictions about how 2018 will go for Activision Blizzard, lowering the company’s predicted potential from “Outperform” to an unspecified lower rating - the first time its rating has been lowered in nine years....

There is a definite jump in quality between the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Alpha and Beta. While some of the changes were needed, others seemed dramatically less important. It’s nearly been a year since battle-royale title Call of Duty: Warzone released and it seems whenever a bug, glitch, or exploit is patched out, another one soon follows to take its place. What’s more, these issues tend to really hamper the gameplay and potentially ruin matches, such as one that makes players completely invincible.
