Like a lot of you, I’m sure, I’ve been Pokémon-ing for twenty years now. From the early days of Missingno glitches to Ekans lurking about in my bathroom and creeping me out during my morning bathroom break just today in Pokémon Go, I’ve ridden the whole wave and damn well loved it.
Other long-time fans don’t have such a favourable outlook on the series today. There’s a band of old-timers the Internet knows as ‘genwunners,’ who claim that the series has gone to holy hell in a hairy hobo’s handbasket since the good old days. The designs suck now, they’ll say. A giant trash bag? Nuts to that. Regardless of the truth of this, there’s one thing we can all agree on: there are an absurd amount of Pokémon now.
