The Call Of Duty Zombies world is incredibly vast, spanning multiple universes throughout the games. One of these universes is Primis and it was first introduced in Black Ops 2’s Origins. The Primis universe would then take control for all of Black Ops 3’s run and the majority of Black Ops 4.
The Primis maps refer to maps that feature the versions of Dempsey, Takeo, Nikolai, and Richtofen that first appeared on Origins. The Primis era of Zombies delivered some of the best maps in the entire series – especially with how popular Black Ops 3 Zombies was. On these maps, the characters really found their footing to become the iconic characters that drove the Zombies narrative.
10 Blood Of The Dead
“Blood Of The Dead” was a launch map of Black Ops 4 and a remake of the incredibly iconic “Mob Of The Dead”. What it delivered was one of the most disappointing maps of the series. Everything about “Blood Of The Dead” felt like a downgrade from the original.
From a horrible easter egg to trivializing the Hell’s Retriever due to Wraithfires, the magic of “Mob Of The Dead” just didn’t translate to “Blood Of The Dead”, and the Primis crew don’t fit the setting that the Mobsters did.
9 Alpha Omega
Primis had its fair share of remakes and “Alpha Omega” is no exception. Perhaps the strangest map the remake, “Alpha Omega” reimagines “Nuketown Zombies” from Black Ops 2 and makes it worse. This map brings in horribly annoying Nova Crawlers, as well as Lighting Hounds that constantly spawn in.
The Ray Gun Mark II mods didn’t add much to the identity of the map either. “Alpha Omega” does nothing to stand out on its own and it’s incredibly forgettable with bad map design to make it hard to find reasons to ever play it.
8 Zetsubou No Shima
“Zetsubou No Shima” had so much potential going for it. The plant mechanics were in-depth, the Wonder Weapon is one of the best in the series, and the Specialist of the map is one of the coolest.
However, “Zetsubou No Shima” flops hard on playability due to just how many doors there are to open. This map requires so many Points to open up the map and almost every door is necessary to be opened. It requires you to set up fast, but that task is near impossible to do with Gobblegums.
7 Revelations
“Revelations” was the original ending to the Primis storyline and the finale of Black Ops 3. It took parts of almost every map from previous games and threw it into one giant map. This works both for and against “Revelations” in that this map isn’t bad, but it feels uninspired.
There are only two original locations on the map (spawn and inside the Apothicon), and it makes you feel like you are playing more of the same rather than something new. It’s also incredibly easy, possessing two of the most powerful Wonder Weapons ever with the Apothicon Servant and Thundergun.
6 Tag Der Toten
While you don’t play as the Primis characters themselves, “Tag Der Toten” is still a part of the Primis universe and canon. The Primis version of Nikolai guides you through the main easter egg quest, culminating in the end of not just Primis, but the entire Aether storyline.
However, “Tag Der Toten” is more bitter than bittersweet. It’s a remaster of “Call Of The Dead”, and you play as Victis instead of the characters whose story we had been following for much longer. The map itself feels uninspired, doing very little to change it up from “Call Of The Dead” outside of replacing George Romero for annoying elemental zombies.
5 The Giant
“The Giant” is the Black Ops 3 version of “Der Riese” and was just as fun as everyone remembered it. It didn’t do much to change up the formula of the original outside of using Black Ops 3 weapons.
New additions include Gobblegum Machines, random Perk locations, and a hidden Perk Machine that swaps between Deadshot Daiquiri and Stampin-Up each run. From camping on the catwalk to training in the furnace room, “The Giant” delivers a ton of fun for an easy-to-pick-up, difficult-to-master Zombies map just like the original was.
4 Shadows Of Evil
Another map that is a part of Primis but you don’t play as those characters, “Shadows Of Evil” released to mixed reception when it came out before becoming one of the most popular maps in Zombies. Richtofen shows up at the end of the main easter egg quests, connecting “Shadows Of Evil” to Primis.
The map is one of the most complicated but offers a ton of different things to enjoy. The characters are all memorable and the aesthetic is fantastic, making it one of the prettiest maps. It has powerful weapons like the Apothicon Servant, but with the powerful Margwas running about to keep things in check.
3 Gorod Krovi
“Gorod Krovi” was the last original Aether map and a fantastic map to take that title. It had one of the strongest openings and endings in the series, and, to many, it cemented Nikolai as their favorite character.
The large integration of dragons worked incredibly well with players even being able to possess their own baby dragon that can shoot fire. The Ray Gun Mark III was incredibly fun to use, with the Mangler zombies offering a constant threat that needs to be dealt with, but not so much to be annoying. “Gorod Krovi” perfectly balances out its difficulty and makes for one of the best maps Zombies has to offer.
2 Origins
The last map of Black Ops 2 and the introduction to Primis, “Origins” is one of the most iconic Zombies maps of all time. The Wonder Weapon Staffs make for a goal to go for every run along with tons of challenges to upgrade your loadout. Every single run of “Origins” somehow feels fresh.
The easter egg quest is one of the most involved and all the mechanics of the map help boost it up to heights that Zombies hadn’t reached until the point of its release. This map was the origin of lots of staples to Zombies from upgradeable elemental Wonder Weapons to the Panzer Soldat.
1 Der Eisendrache
“Der Eisendrache” continued the streak of amazing Zombies maps that started with “Mob Of The Dead” in Black Ops 2. Everything about “Der Eisendrache” works phenomenally. The easter egg is simple for anyone to do but interesting enough to keep coming back to it.
The Bow Wonder Weapons are all fantastic and incredibly fun to use and obtain. Pack-A-Punching was simple and the Panzer Soldat helped to balance out the map with its powerful Wonder Weapons. “Der Eisendrache” is one of the most replayable maps in Zombies with everything on the map being a treat to go through.
