The weapon meta for Call of Duty: Warzone just got some updates. In an effort to adjust the balance, Raven Software has released a patch nerfing several weapons. The video game developer teased these weapon changes last month along with bug fixes and other general updates, but the extent of the modifications was unknown until recently.
Raven has already nerfed multiple weapons this year, including the DMR, Mac–10, and FFAR and AUG. The DMR, in particular, has been the target of public outcry on more than one occasion, having its damage stats reduced twice since the beginning of 2021. In addition to targeting weapon imbalances, Raven also released bug fixes last month related to map locations in Verdansk, although it seems yet another wall glitch has recently been discovered.
With this new round of tweaks, five weapons have been affected, including the CR-56-AMAX, FARA 83, Streetsweeper, Bullfrog, and PPSh-41. Along with specific details on the adjusted stats, Raven has also taken the time to provide justification for each change. Starting with the CR-56 AMAX, the minimum damage has been decreased from 32 to 31, reducing its minimum damage TTK to around 17 percent and requiring one additional shot to kill. According to Raven, the thought process behind the change was to “widen the selection of viable long-range assault rifles.”
As for the FARA 83, the headshot multiplier has been decreased from 1.5 to 1.35, and its base ADS move speed has been reduced by seven percent. This makes the FARA 83’s fastest TTK 16.6 percent lower than before. Raven says they made the change in order to “compensate for its generous rate of fire and recoil control.”
The Streetsweeper has had its base hip spread and recoil increased, as well as its ADS speed slightly reduced. With these changes, the shotgun’s lethal range will be slightly decreased, and reaction time will get a bit of a boost. Raven made these adjustments because they saw the shotgun as too effective when compared to other weapons of its class.
The Bullfrog was the target of several modifications, including a decrease in the maximum damage from 34 to 32 and an increase in the maximum damage range by one percent, base move speed by one percent, and sprint out speed by 13 percent. The purpose of these changes, according to Raven, was to “reduce the Bullfrog’s ability to consistently achieve extreme TTKs, while not removing it entirely.”
Finally, the PPSh-41 actually received a buff in the form of a maximum damage range increase of four percent, and open bolt delay decrease by 80 percent. Raven explained that these adjustments are meant to diversify the weapon from its competition. They stated that every weapon should “have a niche where it excels given a complementary play style.”
