Call of Duty: Warzone is the newest addition to the Battle Royale genre, brilliantly incorporating Call of Duty’s fast-paced gameplay with a versatile sandbox that is only comparable to the Battlefield series.
Part of what makes Warzone so great is its loadout system. Players can spawn Loadout Crates with money they scavenge to equip their favorite guns and perks. Currently, Loadouts are the only way of obtaining perks in Warzone, making your choices more important than a typical Modern Warfare multiplayer match. While each perk fulfills certain niches and playstyles, some have more useful effects than others.
18 Quick Fix
Quick Fix is a tier-1 perk that starts health regeneration immediately after killing a player. Because the majority of your health in Warzone is going to be accounted for by armor and not technically health, this isn’t going to make any substantial difference at all in 99 out of 100 scenarios.
17 Tune Up
Tune Up is a tier-3 perk that reducing the time it takes to revive a teammate by 25%. In a really tight situation where you’re picking up a teammate with an enemy hot on your trail, this little bit of extra speed might help, but most of the time, if that’s the case, you’re about to lose the fight regardless.
16 Scavenger
Scavenger is a tier-1 perk that allows you to resupply ammo from dead players. Most of the time when you kill an enemy they’re going to drop ammo you can use anyways, even without this perk, so really, you aren’t gaining anything here.
15 Tracker
Tracker is a tier-3 perk that allows you to track the footprints of enemies. It also hides the death marker of enemies that you kill. This can be nice if you’re worried about somebody juking you around a corner, or for spotting a recently-laid ambush, but it isn’t going to be super useful all the time. In fact, it isn’t even going to be all that useful most of the time.
14 Pointman
Pointman is a tier-2 perk that enables every member of your team to earn extra money form completed missions. If your team is looking to complete a mission quick and grab some easy killstreaks, this certainly isn’t a bad choice. Having that extra firepower in your pocket can really pay off in the late game, but be sure it’s worth that perk-2 slot.
13 Hardline
That said, Hardline is going to be an easier way to accomplish the above. Hardline is another tier-2 perk, but this one gives you a 25% discount on killstreaks, field upgrades, and armor plates. This can go a long way towards gearing you up for the late-game, and doesn’t require you to complete a mission to get anything out of it.
12 Kill Chain
Kill Chain is a tier-1 perk that increases your chances of finding a killstreak in supply boxes. Because this perk isn’t a guarantee it can’t be recommended too strongly, but when it does give you that free killstreak, it’s a beautiful feeling and can end up making a huge difference (provided the killstreak is used effectively).
11 High Alert
High Alert is a tier-2 perk that gives you a visual warning when an enemy looks at you. In close-range scenarios this probably isn’t going to make a big difference, but if you’re worried about getting your head clicked on by a sniper a couple miles away, this can give you that seconds-warning needed to get you to start employing that serpentine method.
10 Battle Hardened
Battle Hardened is a tier-3 perk that reduces the strength of enemy flash, stun, EMP, and gas grenades on you. It also makes you completely immune to snapshot grenades.
While flashbangs and EMPs are rare in Warzone, they can be debilitating when used. Look sensitivity becomes significantly lower while you are affected by a stun grenade, and gas grenades can lock down critical areas for a short time. Being able to resist most of these effects can help you avoid otherwise certain death.
9 E.O.D.
This tier-1 perk reduces damage non-killstreak explosive and fire deal to you while also resetting live grenade fuses when picked up. If you are tired of using Cold-Blooded, E.O.D. isn’t a bad choice.
With how common claymores are used in Warzone, E.O.D. can help you tank one without losing all of your armor. It is also useful when enemies use Molotovs or similar equipment to block a path. Defensive players also get use out of this perk since it resets fuse times, allowing you to throw grenades back at enemies.
8 Spotter
Spotter does many things, but its main use is to locate enemy equipment. Field upgrades, equipment, and enemy killstreaks are all highlighted through walls with this tier-3 perk.
You can also hack enemy equipment with this perk, though opportunities where that is useful are often non-existent. Seeing equipment through walls can be a serious boon against camping teams, though, as you can shoot their claymores and proximity mines through walls to damage nearby enemies. It is certainly a niche perk, but it can turn entire gunfights on their head if the situation is right.
7 Shrapnel
Shrapnel is a tier-3 perk that grants players two pieces of lethal equipment while also augmenting explosive damage to delay health regeneration.
The health regeneration delay is three seconds, granting enough time to kill the weakened opponent. Most opponents will just armor up in that period, though, but that isn’t the reason you take Shrapnel. This perk allows you to carry 2 stacks of any lethal equipment at once, ranging from frag grenades to claymores. Combined with Restock, you can constantly use lethal equipment to flush enemies out of cover or nab a free kill.
6 Overkill
Overkill is a fantastic option if you don’t want to rely on weapon drops. This tier-2 perk allows you to carry two primary weapons in the same loadout.
You can already swap a secondary weapon for a primary without this perk, so why should you use it? It allows you to bring two fully modded primary weapons in the same loadout. A sniper and SMG fully modded is a dramatic boost in power. This perk is incredibly useful for spawning the exact weapons you want from a Loadout Marker.
5 Amped
Amped is a tier-3 perk that makes weapon-swapping faster and increases the reload speed of rocket launchers. If you frequently swap weapons, this is a fantastic choice.
The swap speed increase is dramatic, allowing you to near-instantly swap between your weapons. For those using a sniper rifle with a workhorse weapon, this perk is a must. Reload speed buffs for rocket launchers is a nice boost as well.
4 Cold-Blooded
Cold-Blooded is a tier-1 perk that makes you undetectable by thermal optics and AI targeting systems. You are also unable to be marked by recon drones, although they can still see you.
Whenever the meta shifts towards using thermal optics, Cold-Blooded will be a top-tier choice since it makes you invisible on all thermal scopes. Immunity to AI targeting isn’t as useful as you’d think since the likes of the Support Helo and Chopper Gunner aren’t in Warzone. Still, being undetectable by snipers using thermal optics can save your life.
3 Restock
Many players hail the effectiveness of Ghost, and while that perk is incredibly powerful, Restock is a fantastic alternative if you want to focus on using equipment instead of avoiding detection.
In Warzone, Restock recharges equipment over 50 seconds. As a tier-2 perk, this can be combined with the tier-3 Shrapnel perk to allow for lethal equipment spam. Fifty seconds sounds like a long time, but the time between most gunfights in Warzone lasts around a minute or two. This is incredible for claymore users, as they can rig an area to explode before repositioning to another location to repeat the cycle. As for regenerating equipment like stims and decoy grenades, Restock makes them recharge twice as fast as normal.
2 Double Time
Double Time is a tier-1 perk that doubles the duration of tactical sprint, Modern Warfare’s super-sprint button. It also increased movement speed while crouched by 30%.
Crouch movement speed isn’t too useful in a game focused on speed, but the double duration of tactical sprint is simply fantastic. There will be situations where you or your team get ambushed or shot at from a distance. Tactical sprint is great for getting into cover quickly, but sometimes it is just shy of getting you to safety. With Double Time, you can safely make it to cover much more frequently.
1 Ghost
Ghost, not to be confused with the operator, is a tier-2 perk that makes you undetectable by UAVs, Heartbeat Sensors, and Radar Drones.
This perk is essential if you plan to win the Battle Royale portion of Warzone. Enemies will frequently use UAVs to learn of your location towards the second half of the match. You are still shown on Advanced UAVs, but the direction you’re facing is hidden. If you plan to win Warzone’s Battle Royale mode, Ghost is arguably a mandatory perk.
