Call of Duty: Warzone recently had its Season 5 update and players are already looking for any tips and tricks to come out on top. The Call of Duty battle royale has been a pretty big hit and players across the globe have generally enjoyed their time with the free-to-play game despite issues.
With Season 5 the game introduced plenty of new aspects, but a lot of the core elements that separate winners from losers still reside at its core. Let’s now look at 10 tips for getting wins in Season 5 of Call of Duty: Warzone.
10 Land Hot, Use Gulag
The great thing about Warzone is that you’re essentially given a free life if you can confidently navigate the Gulag and come out on top. As a player in a first-person shooter, the only way you’re going to get better is by forcing yourself into gunfights and learning how to effectively take out your opponents.
This is why you should drop into areas where many other players will drop, often referred to as “hot” drops, and don’t worry about losing a fight. Your focus should be on getting used to the flow of combat in season 5.
9 Work As A Team
Unless you’re playing the solo version of Warzone, you’ll quickly understand that the game is pretty tactical and requires teamwork to come out on top. This can be difficult if you’re hopping in without friends and opt to play with random people.
The game has a pretty decent ping system in place, which you should use constantly regardless of if you’re playing with friends or strangers. Running into multiple enemies because you wandered off from your team isn’t a good feeling, so make sure to always play as a member of a team and not an individual.
8 Missions Equal Cash Flow
Missions inside of Warzone are arguably the biggest factor between the teams that succeed, and those that falter. The Season 5 update brought with it a new mission that turns the bounty quest on its head and has a member of your team become the hunted.
If you manage to protect that member you get a solid cash prize and the rest of the members on your team that are eliminated respawn. Finding cash randomly can work, but to operate at maximum efficiency you should learn how to navigate the missions found on the map.
7 Loadout Focused
People tend to be more successful when they’re found to be working in a comfortable and familiar situation. In Warzone the same rule applies and most people won’t feel as confident in their gun skills running around with random things they picked up, as they would be with their own created loadouts.
Buying one from the Buy Stations is the safest way to obtain your loadout, but the random in-game drops of them can also work wonders. Just make sure it isn’t being used as a trap by another team looking to rack up kills.
6 UAV & Gas Masks
Earlier it was mentioned that information is vital in Warzone, so is protection. Two of the biggest things you should prioritize acquiring after getting the essentials are gas masks and UAV killstreaks.
The former makes it so your team has more maneuverability and choice as the circle closes, whereas the latter can offer critical information. Knowing where opponents are relative to your location can make or break your movement as a team when the circle begins to get incredibly confined.
5 Pick Your Fights
It may seem like you should take every possible fight as it’s a good way to gain money and items, but practice patience. Sometimes your team can find themselves in a situation where they can play a third party role and advance on a surviving team post-fight, which is a smart choice.
That being said, that doesn’t mean every conflict needs to involve you. If your team is low on ammo, or have less than ideal guns, maybe it’s best to avoid getting in a fight until they’re in a position where success is a bit more possible.
4 Communication
In almost every aspect of your life in which it involves another person, you’ll find that communication is of the utmost importance. Playing Warzone with your friends is no different, and should be a focus if you’re trying to come out on top.
Relaying any information you acquire via verbal communication or non-verbal via the in-game ping system will be much appreciated by teammates. Make sure not to exaggerate either as incorrect or misleading information could lead to the demise of your entire squad.
3 Flash Sale
The Flash Sale is a new in-game event in Warzone that can happen once in any match but isn’t guaranteed. It drastically reduces the price of things in the Buy Stations and makes the Self-Revive kits completely free.
Take advantage of this whenever you can because it can equip your team with all of the necessary tools to come out on top as champions. Remember that it’s not guaranteed so you shouldn’t save your money as a team for the sole purpose of hoping a Flash Sale happens in that given match.
2 Practice, Practice, Practice
It’s a cliche at this point, but you can never expect to get better at something unless you practice. With Warzone the practice is playing the game over and over again. By doing this you’ll naturally learn player tendencies and get comfortable in all situations the game can throw at you.
If you can get a specific squad together that can commit to playing together regularly, that’s your best chance at success. Find time to play the solo mode as well so you can test your one-on-one skills and sharpen your firefight skills.
1 Positioning Is Everything
You’ll often find when watching the best Warzone players that they’re never caught off-guard. This has to do with their positioning and comes from an understanding of player tendencies, as well as being familiar with the intricacies of the gameplay itself.
Now, you may never have that type of awareness as a professional player does, but that doesn’t mean you should neglect it entirely. Understand that in firefights with other squads your team’s positioning can often be more important than their gun skill.
