Call of Duty: Modern Warfare allows players some pretty extensive options when customizing their loadouts and weapons, especially now with the Gunsmith Customs mode. Naturally, players are always looking for the best builds, and it seems that one player has landed on an attachment combination to give the Kar98k perfect stability.
The Kar98k is a sniper rife in both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone, and the build works on either game. The build in question affects the gun’s stability stat, making it sway less when aiming to the point where it emulates the player holding their breath with any other sniper.
This would be understandably powerful, as one of the main challenges of using a sniper rifle in these games is dealing with the weapon sway. The breath hold mechanic gives players a way around it but can usually only be used for short periods of time.
In order to accomplish this build, the player will need to make use of three particular attachments. The Tac laser improves accuracy while aiming down sights, which on a sniper should be most of the time unless one is going for some sick no scopes. Granulated grip tape is next, as it provides a slight boost to accuracy but helps boost range performance as well. Finally, any precision stock will give the last required boost to accuracy for the Kar98k to be maxed out. With all of these attachments, the Kar98k should be completely still when aiming down sights, completely nullifying the need for breath holding.
That said, there are some pitfalls to this build. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare attachments sometimes have hidden effects that could ruin this build if one isn’t careful. For example, adding a long barrel attachment to the gun actually lowers its stability even though it doesn’t say it will, and the player will begin to notice the weapon swaying again. Players may need to experiment to find if any barrel attachments work with the build or simply skip a barrel attachment altogether. This is unfortunate, however, as the barrel attachments can make weapons much deadlier.
Hopefully this Kar98k build gives some players an edge, as the maximum stability feature is extremely helpful. With any luck, Infinity Ward will address these hidden attachment effects, either removing them completely or at least making them show up on the attachment stats. Until then, players will need to watch out for them.
