Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has undergone some major changes with the latest update. Infinity Ward has released the patch notes for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, with Warzone receiving the bulk of the update’s changes.
For Warzone, the developers have replaced Trios Mode with Quads Mode, instead of offering Quads as an additional game mode. The new mode adds an extra player to the Battle Royale team, giving players more of a chance to win and revive each other. In addition to Quads mode, there has also been a price increase at the Buy Station to $10,000 for the Loadout Drop as a result of player feedback claiming Loadout Drop is too powerful.
According to Gamespot, the Loadout Drop is highly useful on the battlefield, allowing players to call in an airdrop that comes with a pre-made loadout of any weapons or items that the player has already unlocked. This also marks the second time that Infinity Ward has increased the cost of Loadout Drop, indicating that this is a necessary balance change for the game.
Additional changes added for Warzone include displaying the distance between players on their given teams. This helps teammates stay together with their squad, making for more effective team strategy. The patch also included a major bug fix that could allow a player to become invincible if they are killed at the moment they were switching seats in the Tac Rover vehicle.
Both Modern Warfare and Warzone saw some changes to weapons in the update. Akimbo weapons start with two extra magazines, allowing for extra ammo. The VLK Rogue Shotgun has been improved with a tighter spread when firing from the hip. All shotgun slugs have had their aim-down-sights spread decreased.
These quality-of-game tweaks come along with the new content added to the Season 3 update. Beyond the aforementioned Quads Mode comes new multiplayer maps, Alex, from the Modern Warfare campaign, as a new Operator, various new cosmetics, including Riley the Dog from COD: Ghosts. There will also be a new Season 3 Battle Pass to keep the community grinding.
All patch notes can be be found on Infinity Ward’s site for further details. One omission from the update, according to Gamespot, was no fix for the tier skip promotion. The free tier skip promotion gives players who bought the Season 2 Battle Pass 10 free tier skips before the season ends. Senior communications manager Ashton Williams said, “Sorry this taking so long, but we’ll post an update as soon as we have one.” In the meantime, players can enjoy an extension to the double XP period. Keep fighting the good fight, Operators.
