With Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s Season 6 battle pass coming to an end, fans are looking for any possibility at Season 7. Since the game’s release back in October of last year, the game has had six seasons of progressively growing content. With Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone merging with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Season 7 will most likely be Season 1 of the new game’s plotline.
Activision seems focused on Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s interaction with the upcoming integration scheduled. As Call of Duty: Modern Warfare fans logged into their game, they noticed that the battle pass had disappeared, with no replacement or update from Infinity Ward.
Many fans are confused, as they hoped that they could continue progressing the Modern Warfare battle pass up until the integration date of December 16th. While the community understands that older titles occasionally lose support, for many fans, it seems like Activision is purposely trying to kill the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare player population. Instead of a Season 7, players will instead be seeing a combined cross-game prestige system that benefits Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans while separating the Modern Warfare community from new content.
At the start of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 1, player progression will be reset and synced across all three games. Player level will match their Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War level, and players will be able to progress through the new title whether or not they own it. Do note that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare unlocked content will continue to be available despite the player’s current level.
Activision hs made it clear that the “preferred” way to prestige and level will be through Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. The development team and publisher plan on challenges, XP events, and other advantages throughout the Season to benefit the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War community.
Many fans see a ton of life left in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare with a year’s worth of patches and maps improving the title. With a healthy cross-platform community and an active Warzone population to supplement, it feels strange for many players to simply abandon the title. Activision has traditionally released a brand new game every year, but something is different, as many fans are calling for more support towards last year’s title.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
