Recently, new bundles have appeared with an interesting selection of skins in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. One of these skins is quickly gaining acclaim for resembling the legendary Ripley from the Alien franchise. This skin is for the Modern Warfare operator Charly and has a fairly dead-on resemblance.

Things were fine until one unfortunate fan noticed something off about their new purchase. As a major Ripley fan, they were disappointed to notice that one of her iconic features was experiencing an unfortunate graphical error with the in-game model. With no solution, the fan posted images to Reddit warning others of a possible error in the model.

The image gives a clear view of the problem at hand. Her hair simply does not appear in-game and appears a bald/black hair default. Although it may not be one of the craziest glitches in Call of Duty, it still stands out as strange. Some of the hair is appearing, floating around the top of the head, but otherwise, it just isn’t appearing. The workaround that this dedicated fan has found is that if anti-aliasing is placed at x2 Filmic, the hair shows as intended. Any other mode messes with the model and makes her hair vanish.

The only reason that the fan won’t play in x2 Filmic is the blur effect that goes with it. The anti-aliasing option makes it hard to see enemies and the map in Warzone when the distance is higher than a few meters. Considering that not many players are running the game in x2 Filmic it can be assumed that most fans are not seeing the skin as intended.

The Reddit fan’s main feeling about this matter is disappointment. They are a big fan of the Alien film series and were excited when they saw multiple references in the bundle’s items. To spend credits, and possibly real money, on a skin that does not function is frustrating, to say the least.

Now that the problem has been identified the developers should have a fix in no time. Model errors are not an uncommon problem in a game like Modern Warfare, which has thousands of assets associated with it. If all that is wrong is the model’s hair, then that should be a simple fix. In the meantime, players should remain patient or place their in-game settings to x2 Filmic.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
