The Call of Duty League promised a new direction for professional Call of Duty and the chance for iconic players and new faces alike to make their make on the brand new league. Despite having to play a mostly online season, there was a lot to like in the league’s inaugural campaign with star players shining bright. With the regular season over and the playoffs coming up, the league announced the five finalists for this year’s MVP.
Anthony “Shotzzy” Cuevas-Castro from the Dallas Empire, Dylan “Envoy” Hannon of the Chicago Huntsmen, Florida Mutineers’ Cesar “Skyz” Bueno and Atlanta FaZe’s Chris “Simp” Lehr and McArthur “Cellium” Jovel round out the MVP finalists.
Simp is the 2019 Call of Duty World League Championship MVP while Cellium has been a steady for all year. The two of them have looked unstoppable at times this season, helping lead the Atlanta FaZe to the number one seed for the playoffs.
Envoy has been an incredible talent for the Chicago Huntsmen and has shined the brightest despite being teammates with iconic legends. He was clutch when Chicago needed him to be and helped lead the Huntsmen to fourth in the standings.
Skyz helped lead a Florida team that wasn’t super high on everyone’s list coming into the 2020 season. The Mutineers caught fire about halfway through the season and tied the Empire with three Home Series wins. One of the biggest reasons for Florida’s third seed is Skyz insane play all year.
It’s no secret Shotzzy started off the season a bit rough. He was hyped up coming into his first season as a pro Call of Duty player but struggled to rise to those expectations. He has since played out of his mind while the Dallas Empire locked in the second seed.
Any of these players absolutely deserve the honor of being the Call of Duty League’s 2020 MVP. They have all made incredible impacts for their teams and have shaped the way we all look at professional Call of Duty. Early favorites have to be either Shotzzy or Cellium but it’s truly for the taking. All of the finalists represent the top four teams in the league and will look to continue leading their teams to victory for the playoffs.
