Season 3 starts this week in Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone, bringing new maps, modes, weapons, and lots more. Here’s everything you need to know about Cold War and Warzone Season 3.
New Multiplayer Maps In Black Ops Cold War
There are four new multiplayer maps coming to Black Ops Cold War during Season 3. The following two maps are coming when the Season launches:
- Yamantau (6v6) - A Soviet base on Mount Yamantau, based on the Echoes Of A Cold War Campaign mission. Diesel (6v6/2v2/3v3) - A fast-paced map set in a desert town. This map is coming to Team Deathmatch and Gunfight.
The other two maps are coming to Black Ops Cold War during Season 3. There is no official release date yet, but expect these maps to come around the Mid-Season update. Here are the maps planned to release later in Season 3:
- Standoff (6v6) - A classic Call Of Duty map returning from Black Ops 2. This three-lane map is set in a border between two warring nations. Duga (Multi-Team) - Another map set in the Ural Mountains. There are multiple points of interest that you can find, such as an office building, chemical processing plant, and an array tower.
New Multiplayer Modes In Black Ops Cold War
Players who are eager for something new can jump into two new modes during Season 3.
Sticks and Stones, the classic mode that has featured in every Black Ops game so far, returns on launch in Season 3. In this mode, players spawn in with the R1 Shadowhunter crossbow, Ballistic Knife and Tomahawk. Earn points with the crossbow and knife, whilst using the tomahawk to reset other players’ scores back to zero.
Multi-Team Elimination will arrive later in Season 3. This is a last-team-standing mode in which teams of four will fight across some of Black Ops Cold War’s biggest maps.
New Weapons Coming To Warzone And Cold War
Operators can unlock six new weapons in Season 3, although they won’t all arrive at launch.
These are all of the new weapons coming to Warzone and Cold War in Season 3:
- PPSh-41 (launch week) Swiss K31 (launch week) Ballistic Knife (launch week in Cold War, later in Season in Warzone) CARV.2 (later in Season) AMP63 (later in Season) Baseball Bat (later in Season)
A new Scorestreak, called Strafe Run, is also coming to Cold War multiplayer when Season 3 launches.
The Hunt For Adler Event
When Season 3 launches, a new limited-time event will begin, named Hunt For Adler. This event will task you with completing various challenges in both Cold War and Warzone.
Treyarch have not specified every reward that players will earn through this event. However, they have revealed that players can look forward to Weapon Charms, Calling Cards and a new Adler skin.
New Operators Coming To Warzone And Cold War
There are four operators coming to Cold War and Warzone in Season 3. Two will come at launch, whilst the other two will arrive later in the Season. These are the new operators you can get in Season 3:
- Wraith (launch week) - Purchase the Battle Pass to unlock at tier 0. There will also be another Wraith skin at tier 100. Price (launch week) - Available for free to all players who own Black Ops Cold War. Knight (later in Season) Antonov (later in Season)
Antonov and Knight can be unlocked by buying their respective bundles from the store when they appear during Season 3.
New Zombies Content In Season 3
There are lots of additions coming to Outbreak, as well as a new Field Upgrade for use across Cold War Zombies.
Toxic Growth Field Upgrade
Toxic Growth is a new Field Upgrade that lets you grow thorns in front of your character. These thorns slow down and poison enemies whilst they move through the area.
Operators can use the new Field Upgrade in round-based maps and Outbreak.
What’s Coming To Outbreak In Season 3?
Outbreak is also getting lots of new additions, and all of them are coming at the start of Season 3. Here are all of the new additions in Outbreak for Season 3:
- New Vehicles - FAV and Cargo Truck New World Events and Features - Get the D.I.E Wonder Weapon, find the Aether Tool, and teleport to higher world difficulties quicker. Objective Changes - Defend, Retrieve, and Holdout will be found in more areas, which should make every match more varied.
Players can also play Duga, the map coming to Multi-Team modes later this Season, in Outbreak at launch.
New Warzone Map
Operation Rapid Sunder begins at 12pm on April 21st. This event will change Warzone in a big way by overhauling the Verdansk that we all know and love.
This is seemingly the end of the zombie outbreak that has spread across Verdansk throughout Season 2. Allegedly, a nuclear missile will be dropped on Verdansk, somehow sending it back to the Cold War era.
