The beginning of Modern Warfare and Warzone Season 4, as well as Call of Duty Mobile Season 7, has been delayed.

As the protests and riots sparked by the killing of George Floyd continue in the US and around the world, more events are being canceled or postponed. Sony has delayed its PS5 reveal event, the release of Madden 21 has been postponed indefinitely, and now Infinity Ward and Activision have followed suit.

It was announced via the Call of Duty Twitter account that Modern Warfare and Warzone Season 4, as well as Call of Duty Mobile Season 7, have been delayed. Modern Warfare and Warzone’s new season was scheduled to go live this Wednesday, June 3, 2020. Call of Duty Mobile’s seventh season was slated to launch two days later on Friday, June 5, 2020.

The statement reads much the same way as Sony’s one published earlier the same day, stating that the decision to delay the launch of its new seasons is to allow more important voices to be heard in the media right now. Anything that might take media attention away from what is happening in the US right now is getting postponed. While there has been no word yet from Epic, the already (twice) delayed third season of Fortnite’s second chapter might well get the same treatment.
