With three seasons of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare behind us, players are full of curiosity and patiently waiting for the next season of the popular first-person shooter. Warzone sparked millions of interest worldwide to boot up and plunge into the lands of Verdansk to achieve the elusive “Warzone Victory.”
Season four original scheduled date was set for June 3rd. However, it was briefly postponed to observe recent events. However, the release is coming soon, and we know your hard drive is ready for another 120 GB update—ours sure isn’t. So, let’s take a look at what to expect in Modern Warfare season four and the potential changes that need to be made to satisfy players.
10 What To Expect: Captain Price and New Playable Operators
As expected in the past seasons, players will receive new operators. However, none are as hype as Captain Price. The mustached soldier of pure awesomeness, cunning skill, and expertise joins the Warzone. Of course, there will be other playable operators at players’ disposal for both opposing factions: the Coalition and Allegiance.
A promotional trailer has been revealed that Captain Price will be the main showcase in Season Four. This is quite possibly the biggest edition to the operator roster that already received fan-favorite Ghost, Black Ops’ Alex Mason, and female fatale Mara. Now, can we possibly get Soap in season five?
9 Changes To Make: Server Issues
When it comes to massive online experiences like Warzone, server issues are going to be a given. However, we have yet to see Activision and Infinity War make any major moves to amend issues a ton of players are experiencing. Getting kicked from a good lobby or having a victory stolen thanks to laggy connections is never fun, and we’d like to see this addressed in the near future.
8 What To Expect: Warzone Map Changes and Multiplayer Map Additions
Like all other battle royales that came before Warzone, map changes or completely different maps are inevitable. Rightfully now, playing the same map over and over again can grow stale over time. So, changes have to be made. We have seen catastrophic changes to maps of Apex Legend’s King Canyon and new environmental maps in PUBG.
We’ve heard that Warzone’s map will eventually undergo a serious change ala Fornite’s Black Hole event. However, at the moment, all we can do is wait to see what’s in store.
7 Changes To Make: Easy To Find Past Squadmates
So you just got done winning a game with your team, but there was a player that went on a frenzy with 15 kills. You try to run it back with the player, but you forgot the name as you search through the recent players’ list. Never to be seen again.
Warzone needs to make it easier to squad up with your recent random teammates by having the past list of teammates separate from recent players. Apex Legends does this perfectly as recent teammates appear on the left side of the lobby screen awaiting invite. It’s the small things that matter and this should be a pretty standard fix.
6 What To Expect: New Weapon Swaps Added To Warzone
Tired of the silenced shotguns? Have terrible aim and can’t handle the recoil with LMG’s? Never fear, for Warzone swaps the weapons in previous seasons for an assortment of new weapons. This applies to basic regular guns to uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary weapons.
Season three’s weapon pool was pretty much shotguns and LMG’s, so it’s fair to say that players won’t be seeing a ton of those types of weapons in abundance. Of course, players always opt-out for a loadout drops to bypass past these issues. However, it’s still convenient to have better weapons to loot from within the map, while you wait for the drops to happen.
5 Changes To Make: Dropping Of Tacticals, Lethals, Field Upgrades, and Killstreaks
A big change that occurred in season three is dropping off weapons. Usually, players would have to swap their weapon with another weapon to make changes, but now they drop them like armor and ammo. This is critical if a teammate is redeployed, and they can now have a primary weapon to fight alongside you instead of a standard pistol.
Tacticals, lethals, field upgrades, and killstreaks should work the same way to better orchestrate strategic plans. You can’t do an explosive wombo-combo if you are holding both the recon drone and C4 in hand with no way to drop either of them.
4 What To Expect: A New Game Mode In Warzone
To keep things fresh and Warzone players coming back for more. Warzone is expected to offer a new game mode of sorts to shake up the formula a bit. While standard Battle Royale and Plunder are the mainstays of Warzone, Activision has released new modes like Blood Money and a more barebones traditional Battle Royale mode that doesn’t have the objectives, respawns, and buy stations included. Expect Warzone to continue this trend and maybe see a subsequently permanent game mode alongside the standard two in the future. Maybe we will receive a zombies mode… maybe?
3 Changes To Make: Expanding Non-Verbal Cues and Improved Markings
To many randoms that decide to join your battle for victory or inevitable doom, a problem that may occur is the dreaded no mic situation. Communication is the key to success in surviving Warzone. Helpfulness can come in both forms of verbal and visual interactions.
Warzone can expand its non-verbal cue functionality in a way that Apex does with its ping wheel that would help drastically with communication. Also, it would be nice to improve the accuracy in marking enemies or items on the map.
2 What To Expect: Introducing New Contracts
A great addition to Warzone to help both build tense action and risk and reward situations, contracts scattered across the map. Scavenger objectives allow for big payoffs with three crates of goodies to open and collect. Recon objectives reward players into a sneak peek into the next ring location.
Lastly, Bounty objectives to hunt down enemies to claim rewards. Warzone has introduced the “Most Wanted” contracts in season three for the highest risk-takers out there willing to bring back your squad. Expect a new contract or swapping out all contracts for new ones.
1 Changes To Make: Mixing Weapon Types In The Gulag
To many players, The Gulag is a sacred place where boys become men. Recently, The Gulag’s choice of attrition in one v. one combat are automatic weapons. Some people may like this, and others not, and it’s a definite far cry from the pistols and shotguns in previous seasons.
However, let’s suggest mixing all types of weapons—minus RPGs—to keep players on their toes. It’s nothing bad to change up the formula in favor of catering to all types of players and weapon selections.
