If you want to buy Burnout Paradise Remastered for the Nintendo Switch, it’ll cost you $50. That’s the price on the preorder page, and it’s… well, it’s a bit much.
It’s not that Burnout Paradise isn’t a great game, but it’s a great game that came out in 2008. Sure, this is a remastered version, but can get the remastered version for $20 on PC and Xbox One, and it’s on sale for just eight bucks right now on PS4.
The Switch is newer, portable, and less powerful than the PS4 and Xbox One, so it makes sense that a brand new port might end up costing more. But this is more than double the cost. The Switch Page does promise “8 pieces of extra content,” but that comes out to $3.75 per piece of extra content. While it’s not clear what this “extra content” will be, it’s hard to envision a way that this could be worth the money.
The game’s coming out on June 19, and there will probably be plenty of people willing to pay the high price for the game. But really, the only thing that might make the game worth your while is if you haven’t bought any other console in the past 12 years.
