Less than 2 weeks remain in Destiny 2 season 10 and players are wondering what the future of Destiny will look like. Bungie explained their weekly blog post this week that while they can’t say exactly when, they are planning to reveal both Season 11 and Year 4 simultaneously. With only 11 days left in Season of the Worthy, the news can’t come soon enough.

While we don’t yet know the name or plot of the upcoming Season 11, we have some information about how Destiny 2 will be changing. The blog posts, called This Week At Bungie, have done a great job recently of describing the philosophy behind upcoming design changes. One of which is a controversial plan to begin sunsetting weapons on a 12 month, or 4 season cycle, in an effort to stop power creep and create a sense that Destiny 2 has bespoke eras for gear. Some players have understandably grown attached to their guns, especially god roll weapons that took a lot of effort to acquire, and are unhappy about losing the ability to infuse them in the future.

Season of the Worthy began with a plot by the Cabal to send their mothership The Almighty careening towards Earth. Guardians have spent this entire season powering up Rasputin the Warmind in order to prevent The Almighty from colliding with us. Meanwhile, Rasputin’s scans have picked up a large group of triangle-shaped space crafts crossing the galaxy. It is presumed that these are the forces of darkness that we encountered on Mars with Eris, and that both plot threads will resolve at the start of Season 11 and Year 4, respectively.

When Season 11 ends Bungie will introduce a yearly title update that will likely bring players to new patrol zones and introduce new raids, strikes, and mechanics just as Shadowkeep and Forsaken did previous years.

With the worldwide health crisis and Bungie working from home, they won’t be able to reveal their plans at E3 this year. Instead, Bungie will be hosting a livestream in the coming days to show both Season 11 and the Year 4 title update. We don’t know exactly when, but it will be “soon”
