Bungie has raised over $780,000 for Direct Relief, a multi-cause charity whose current mission is to support frontline healthcare workers affected by COVID-19.
The money was raised as part of Destiny 2’s Guardian’s Heart Initiative, a fundraising campaign that began on April 13th in response to COVID-19. Players who donated $20 or more to Direct Relief through Tiltify received a special in-game emblem, the Guardian’s Heart.
To support the Guardian’s Heart Initiative, some notable Destiny 2 content creators offered themselves up for Bungie Bounties, community events where Bungie targets specific players for other Guardians to compete against to earn an exclusive in-game emblem. Players who encountered any of the players targeted for Bungie Bounties in earned the Sign of Mutual Combat emblem.
Upon donating, players should have received a code in their Bungie email, which they can then redeem on their Bungie account for the emblem. Guardians who have donated but have yet to receive their emblem should start a thread in Bungie’s Help forum.
The final donation count totaled $788,923.19, marking another successful fundraising campaign for Bungie. While the Initiative ended on May 12th and the Guardian’s Heart emblem is no longer available to earn, Direct Relief is still accepting donations. Direct Relief operates in over 80 countries, and while its mission statement is to improve the health and lives of people affected by poverty or emergency situations, it is currently pouring resources toward providing healthcare workers with protective equipment.
