Last year, Bungie challenged its Destiny 2 player base to raise more than $777,777.77 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital during GCX 2020. In return for this incredible act of charity, Bungie agreed to create an official Destiny toaster and sell it in its store.

GCX 2021 now starts with Bungie revealing the fruits of their year-long labor. Thanks to the generosity of Guardians from around the world, the official Destiny 2 toaster is now available for pre-order.

There are some notable caveats that we must mention in regards to the toaster, and the first among them is that this is not a particularly good toaster. It just burns the Destiny Tricorn symbol into your bread, leaving the edges somewhat dried but otherwise uncooked. It does, however, come with a free sandwich container so you can store your poorly toasted bread, as well as the Burnt Edges in-game emblem.

On the plus side, 10% of all profits generated from sales of the Destiny toaster go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Considering the toaster will run you $85, that should be a fairly substantial profit.

And in case you were wondering, that hand symbol on the side of the toaster is the same as the one found on the Jötunn Exotic Fusion Rifle, a weapon affectionately dubbed “the toaster” by Destiny 2 players.

Pre-orders for the Destiny toaster are available now, with deliveries expected to begin between December and January.

In less bread-related Destiny news, Grandmaster Nightfalls return next week and bring Adept versions of the Plug One.1, Hung Jury, and Uzume RR4. Then starting on July 13, the Grandmaster Nightfall rewards start a four-week rotation which will bring back last season’s Shadow Price, Palindrome, and The S.W.A.R.M. on the fourth week.
