Brands and businesses worldwide have reacted to recent events surrounding the evil embedded in the US justice system. In some cases, their responses have been tone-deaf. Thankfully, however, plenty of other businesses have used their platforms for good. Independent video game distribution service Itch.io is now among these, having debuted a set of games titled the Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality, from which proceeds will be donated to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund and Community Bail Fund.

Upon its release, the bundle included 742 video games and game-related projects, such as soundtracks, assets for developers, and pen-and-paper RPGs. Following the bundle’s release, however, Itch has kept its submissions open and already plans on adding additional games and related media for its current and new buyers.

Purchasing the bundle requires a minimum price of $5, with the option, of course, to increase that should anyone so choose. As of around 2:00 p.m. on June 7th, the Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality raised more than $2 million. With new games slated to be added to the bundle soon – despite its already staggeringly low price point – that number is likely to significantly increase over the course of the next week or so.

Included in the bundle are some high profile indie games such as Night in the Woods, Minit, A Short Hike, Quadrilateral Cowboy and A Mortician’s Tale. The cost of buying these five games alone would normally total just over $60. Of course, with hundreds of other games included, there’s at least one hidden gem for practically any kind of gamer.

Of the initial bunch of games included in the bundle, 207 are available for free. Itch founder Leaf Corcoran explained that he allowed free games to be included as a way for their developers to show their support. Based on the results of a Twitter poll, he expects to separate future free games into a new category that still allows developers to show solidarity, but is separate from the bundle and its associated cost.

The Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality is available until June 16 on Itch.io.
