The season 5 battle pass for Modern Warfare is here, and with it are new weapons and items that will help everyone stand out in any mode of their choosing. The bulk of the new additions arriving with the battle pass do not include what is yet to come in the mid-season update, and hopefully, some surprises may be in store.
For players new to this battle pass experience or just need a casual reminder, the new battle pass will cost players 1,000 COD points to unlock the premium version, with an offer to spend 2,400 points to get the premium pass and 20 free battle pass levels. Nothing in this premium pass is necessary for you to get the full Modern Warfare experience, and you can easily enjoy the free version of the battle pass.
Via the official Activision blog, players can expect new operators and lore through the addition of Lerch who leads the new Shadow Company. Players familiar with the series might remember Shadow Company being a faction loyal to General Shepard in Modern Warfare 2. In addition to Lerch there is the new Shadow Company Operator Velikan, who will be available at some point through an in-store pack.
Lerch is an instant unlock that comes with the premium battle pass, alongside the other instant unlocks of a new Rodion skin and new radio music for vehicles dubbed the Juggernaut pack. Players that max out the battle pass can expect a new Roze Rook skin that is a cool stealth-oriented costume that will help you hide in the shadows. The other level 100 rewards are a legendary blueprint for the AN-94 and a helicopter skin that paints the vehicle in all black.
Two new weapons are arriving the ISO submachine gun and, fan-favorite, the AN-94. The ISO has similar stats to the fennec from the previous season, with a lower fire rate, but overall a powerful submachine gun that surely will be a pick for many throughout the season. The AN-94 is interesting as it has a powerful two-round burst and quite an impressive damage range.
While watches are fun gimmicks and not usually a big deal in Modern Warfare, the new battle pass adds a free watch that doubles as a compass for players. The Four Winds watch can actually provide some useful callouts for players that may forget about their compass on the top of the screen, or just need to keep their focus on the center of the screen. Speaking of gimmicks there is a new finishing move animation dubbed Nevermore, which has players summon a raven to kill their foes. While this outlandish move may not be for everyone, the battle pass has new Mil-Sim operator skins to appease to players that may like a little less whimsy in their games. Their loss. The rest of the unlocks range from new weapon blueprints, some new knife skin with a Shadow Company logo, new vehicle skins, and little less flashy cosmetic items. Overall the new season pass brings a lot of content to keep players busy until the next season.
