It’s time for a Bounty of Blood: A Fistful of Redemption, the latest DLC expansion to hit Borderlands 3.

Last month, we saw that Gearbox planned to make the third expansion of Borderlands 3 a giant Red Dead Redemption joke. And now that it’s arrived, we’re pleased to report that it is indeed full of Western themes and references. Let’s be real: Borderlands isn’t exactly a subtle franchise.

The Sheriff of Vestige on the planet Gehenna, a frontier world on the fringes of known space, has put out a call to help deal with a roving group of mercenaries that ride giant mutant beasts and keep shooting up the town. They’re called the Devil Riders gang, and what better solution to a gang of roaming murderers than another, slightly more heroic gang of roaming murderers?

Along with a new story, new side missions, and new characters, Bounty of Blood introduces a new and unseen narrator that will pointlessly update the player on the actions they’ve just performed, but do it in a Western drawl so that it feels authentic. There’s also new cosmetics and Legendary loot to hunt, too.

You can access Bounty of Blood via the wanted poster inside Sanctuary III. Or if you prefer to skip the preamble and just get straight to the expansion, you can select Bounty of Blood from the new Vault Hunter screen when you start a brand new character.

Regardless of whether you have access to Bounty of Blood or not, either because you own the Super Deluxe Edition of Borderlands 3 (available at a steep discount in the Steam Summer Sale) or the Season Pass, everybody’s level cap is increasing to 60. That’ll give you some new build options and the possibility of two capstones to play with.

Besides the new DLC, there’s also a big patch out! Mayhem Moden now has scaling damage for melee, sliding, slam attacks, pet damage, skill damage, and vehicle damage, which should also open up new build possibilities, and there’s been a general adjustment to weapon damage almost across the board. Pistols, Tediore SMGs, shotguns, and assault rifles have all gotten a buff, with slight variations depending on the manufacturer.
