Borderlands 3 just received some major free updates, including the start of the Revenge of the Cartels event and Mayhem Mode 2.0. Unfortunately, it sounds like the Borderlands 3 updates haven’t gone over smoothly. Mayhem Mode 2.0 is being called out specifically, with a list of almost 30 ongoing issues being collected, the most severe of which is major performance issues on PC and console.

Reddit user MaximumRafiki posts that they’re experiencing “audio glitches, stuttering, and crashing” in Mayhem 2.0, specifically calling out modifiers that create elemental pools and chains. The sentiment is shared by many other Reddit users spread across platforms including PC, PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox One S, and even Xbox One X.

Performance issues are just the tip of the iceberg, however. There are dozens of other bugs being reported, with examples including Catch-A-Ride vehicles resetting, chests not scaling to Mayhem level, and several other scaling issues. Perhaps the biggest issue, however, is reporting that Legendary drops at Mayhem 10 are less than Mayhem 1.0 level 4 drop rates.

Gearbox has noted some Borderlands 3 Mayhem Mode 2.0 bugs. Gearbox did hotfix Borderlands 3 on Friday to correct audio glitches due to the Mahem 2.0 modifier Boundary Issues. An official tweet also mentioned that the team is “continuing to work on performance and stability updates,” but didn’t specifically mention Mayhem 2.0. Expect further updates in the days to come.

Borderlands 3 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
