The Borderlands series has always been known for its heart-pumping action and its array of insane weapons. Lesser appreciated though is the degree of customization that players are given; not just with the weaponry but also with one’s avatar.

Borderlands 2 is particularly great in its use of skill trees that allow you to boost your Vault Hunter in unique ways without being too overwhelming.

Then there are the various Class mods, or “Class Optimization Modules.” As the name implies, these work towards the strengths of each class, giving boosts and perks to different skills.

With so many factors in play, including available classes, skills, and mods, it can be tough to pinpoint the most useful mods to augment your hero with. This list will highlight the best of the best, sticking to coveted Legendary mods for different classes.

10 Legendary Anarchist

Though it’s a tad bogged down by the deduction of accuracy, sharpshooters should be able to get much out of this Mechromancer mod. For most, the solid 56% boost in gun damage tends to be worth the more negligible 42% decrease of gun accuracy.

It can be had from Tubby enemies at level 62-plus in Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode.

This mod also manages to boost some of the more useful skills for Gaige. These include juiced shields, added Anarchy stacks, and a damage bump for her familiar, Deathtrap. These buffs can help amplify the unique strengths of Mechromancer in different ways.

9 Legendary Gunzerker

It’s always fun to go off with Salvador and inflict some pain with dual-wielding weapons of different types. Thankfully, this mod allows you to do that a bit more often by bumping up his Action Skill cooldown rate.

This mod is great in that it plays to the strengths of this guns-a-blazin’ Vault Hunter. Boosts to Lay Waste, Incite, and All in the Reflexes means that Salvador can blast away baddies more quickly and with more critical damage.

Meanwhile, Yippee Ki Yay and Last Longer will boost the satisfying Gunzerking Action Skill.

8 Legendary Siren

Maya is a Siren known for her baddie-trapping Phaselock Action Skill. Though she can also be an offensive force, especially when augmented with this Legendary mod. It has a higher chance to drop from Vermivorous The Invincible, Uranus from the Commander Lilith DLC pack, and Ancient Dragons of Destruction from the Tiny Tina DLC.

It enhances two skills from her elemental-based Cataclysm tree; which tends to work towards her strengths. Flicker raises the chance to produce status effects from elemental weapons. This goes nicely with Foresight and Accelerate; perks that bumps up magazine size, reload speed, damage, and bullet speed.

Meanwhile, the boost to her shield capacity and recharge delay adds more survivability when tangling with foes. Basically, this thing covers lots of ground all at once.

7 Legendary Cat

This DLC mod should prove solid for most Maya players, but especially those who favor the bullet-spraying SMGs. In fact, it adds a whopping 141% damage to these guns in total. Again, this comes at the expense of some accuracy, though it’s minor compared to the boost received.

These weapons can be made even stronger and faster by bonuses offered to skills including Wreck, which also exploits her Phaselock. Basically, mechanical players that utilize Phaselock and SMGs can truly be a force to be reckoned with.

This mod is dropped by Tubby foes (level 62 and above) in Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode

6 Legendary Mechromancer

This mod can be found from Vermivorous, Pete, or Voracidous the Invincible, as well as the Ancient Dragons of Destruction. It’s a mod that Gaige players will want to gun for, since it cuts the cooldown of her familiar-summoning Action Skill. But another standout trait is that it offers bonuses to six skills rather than five; a rarity even with Legendary mods.

This includes the handy Cooking Up Trouble, which yields health regeneration over time. It also adds five points to The Better Half, 20% Cooler, More Pep, Strength of Five Gorillas, and Smaller, Lighter, Faster.

These all give her well-rounded boosts in different areas, including firing and reload speed as well as boosts to Deathtrap.

5 Legendary Titan

This is another solid Gunzerker mod, as it really caters to Salvador’s strengths. It can be dropped by Tubby enemies of level 62-plus in Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode.

Hard to Kill and Asbestos add survivability in different ways. The former bumps up his health and grants regeneration, while the latter cuts the duration of elemental damage inflicted upon him.

Meanwhile, bonuses to Out of Bubblegum and Locked and Loaded add DPS and reload time when firing.

4 Legendary Sniper

Not to be outdone, Borderland 2’s resident sniper also comes with a potent mod as well, one that can be dropped from Tubby enemies.

Rather than being a more of a “jack of all trades” enhancer, this one cuts to the chase and focuses on Zer0’s Sniping tree - a strong suit of his.

The skill boosts are: Precision, One Shot One Kill, Headshot, Kill Confirmed, and Velocity. Each of these more-or-less exploits and rewards sniping from range and nailing critical hits. With this mod, Zer0 can be a devastating sharpshooter.

3 Legendary Ninja

Another great option for Zer0, this mod emphasizes the close-up, ninja-like qualities of this assassin. Players can make more of an impact when sneaking up on unsuspecting prey with a 64% boost to melee damage.

Most skills boosted here benefit melee strikes in some fashion. For instance, the Backstab bonus dishes out this added damage from behind, while Resurgence rewards successful hits by restoring some health.

This is balanced out somewhat by a Followthrough bonus, which bumps up movement speed and gun damage. Take out some Tubby targets in order to have a good chance to land this one.

2 Legendary Soldier

While Axton the Commando has thus-far been left out, he happens to have arguably the best Legendary class mod. This is largely because of the whopping 6 skills that are boosted. It can be dropped from Vermivorous, Pete, or Voracidous the Invincible.

What’s great about this mod is that it excels when it comes to quantity and quality. It grants crucial boosts to his turret Action Skill, gun damage, and fire rate, making him an offensive powerhouse. Though some of the boosted skills - like Expertise, Healthy, and Preparation - also increase his swiftness in gun handling and survivability.

Each of his three skill trees is covered equally, making for a solid, well-rounded mod.

1 Legendary Sickle

Despite being late to the party, this 2013 addition known as Krieg arguably boasts the best Legendary DLC mod in BL2. This is, provided you intend to spend much of your time swinging blunt objects.

It’s dropped from Tubby enemies in the Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack Two: Digistruct Peak Challenge.

The five bonuses granted to this brawler extend to all three skill trees. At the end of the day, though, most of them greatly bump up his close-range attacks in some fashion. At the same time, his long-ranged combat is given a lift thanks to the added Bloodlust stacks.
