Switch owners of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night have had a rough go of things. While the PC, PS4, and Xbox One versions of the game have been good to go since launch (barring slight issues on individual platforms), the belated port to Switch keeps getting hit with technical issues and patch delays.

The same thing happened with the recently released randomizer update, which included a randomization mode alongside a new playable character. Released yesterday on every other platform, Switch owners were told things would be delayed for a bit. Thankfully, the wait won’t be too long. Publisher 505 Games has confirmed that the randomizer/Zangetsu update will be heading to Nintendo’s platform by the end of May.

The news came from the game’s official Twitter account, which was responding to a fan inquiry about why Switch was being left out. The provided answer isn’t an exact date, mind you, but it does mean players can look forward to the patch before too long. It’s also likely the best 505 can do without any firm details. It’s better to err on the side of caution then promise something and be unable to deliver.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is a pretty successful attempt at recreating the magic of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, but its post-launch support has been anything but solid. Issues with getting DLC out on time and the busted nature of the game’s initial release on Switch have painted a bad picture for developer ArtPlay. It likely bit off more than it could chew, but it still should have delayed that Switch release until it was in a playable state.

The Kickstarter campaign was also a bit iffy, constantly delaying the game to the point that many felt we’d see a repeat of Mighty No. 9. That thankfully didn’t come to fruition, but most of the marketing surrounding this game and its DLC has been disappointing. Fans just want the best for director Koji Igarashi and his Metroidvania title.

A short delay on Switch can be forgiven, but ArtPlay needs to ensure that this patch launches without a hitch. Having it release at anything less than 100% will not be acceptable.
