At BitSummit last night, developer Inti Creates announced that Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 would be releasing for all platforms (PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch) on July 10, 2020. Priced at $14.99, it won’t simply be a single-player affair this time around. A brand new co-op mode will allow friends to team up and take on the horrors of the night together.

In addition to the four characters announced in the previous trailer, the entire cast from the first Curse of the Moon will be playable in this sequel. That brings the player count up to seven and there might even be some unlockable ones hidden. It looks like a real blast.

Co-op is the biggest surprise here. A similar mode was announced for Ritual of the Night and is still planned as an eventual update, but it’s great to see it being implemented in Curse of the Moon 2. That will make a much easier case for getting a friend to play with you, especially when they aren’t as familiar with classic style Castlevania.

I’m eager to see how different this sequel makes things. The character selection is certainly more bonkers and the lack of having to stay so close to Konami’s revered series means this sequel can go in a lot of directions.
