Bloodborne’s Vicar Amelia resides in the most obvious boss arena to have ever existed. You open the grand doors of the cathedral, ascend the large staircase, and see a figure hunched over at the end of a long room. Though her location is pretty eldritch, her overall design veers away from the Lovecraftian aesthetic into…dead mummy deer wolf thing.
All players can do is charge in and slay the beast, but Vicar Amelia is a challenging boss due to her large health pool. Even with an upgraded weapon, the fight will be long and tactical. Still, like all bosses, she is meant to be beaten. This guide will teach you just how to do that.
Resource Management Is Key
Due to Vicar Amelia’s huge amount of health, managing your items and stamina during this fight is going to be essential if you want to outlast her. Also, coming into the fight at an appropriate level and with properly upgraded gear is a must. Make sure you’ve scoured the world for any upgrade materials to buff your weapons and if you’re still finding her too hard to beat, grind up a few more levels.
Vicar Amelia has a very long reach and many of her attacks hit her sides, too. Normally, the solution to this would be to go behind her. But her cloth-like appendages will obscure your view, leaving you open to her counter-attacks. Below her won’t really work either as a lot of her attack combos see her slam her fists into the ground just beneath her.
For this fight, you’ll have to get used to dodging out the way of her combos and striking her a couple of times before you back away again. Your best tactic here is to dodge around her attacks, hit her a couple of times, and dodge away again before she can counter you. This means that you have to keep an eye on your stamina bar and ensure you always have enough left for some quick rolls.
Go For The Legs
Fortunately, Amelia can be staggered once you hit her legs enough times. You can set up visceral attacks on the Vicar by staggering her. When you do, visceral attack her for massive damage. Take advantage of these as often as you can as they’ll make her health drop much faster than standard attacks. The Hunter Axe would be good here as it can hit both her legs at once. The Threaded Cane is also good as it can hit up at her head when it’s in whip form, doing extra damage and staggering her more often.
Amelia has a healing ability that she’ll utilise once her health drops below half. If your weapon is strong enough, you can just wail on her and negate the effect. If not, throw some Numbing Mist at her to stop her healing entirely. As a beast enemy, she’s weak to fire, so bring some Fire Paper and Moltovs to help you bring her down.
