This weekend at BlizzCon, Blizzard announced a new Diablo game for mobile platforms, titled Diablo Immortal. The announcement of the game was received with a lot of negative feedback, to say the least, to the point where the trailer was flooded with negative comments and over 257,000 dislikes on the trailer. On another panel at BlizzCon, though, Blizzard representatives assured upset fans that Diablo Immortal is not the only Diablo game that is currently in development.
The negative response to the Diablo Immortal announcement is largely due to the fact that it is a mobile game and hardcore gamers feel that Diablo Immortal is simply a watered-down version of the critically acclaimed long-running game franchise. Fans may also be upset because they expected a more substantial Diablo announcement at BlizzCon, since the last Diablo game was released in 2013.
However, Adham is of the opinion that some Diablo fans will probably change their opinion of Diablo Immortal when they actually get their hands on it. Despite the backlash, mobile platforms for video games seem to become more popular, with other franchises like The Elder Scrolls also releasing games on mobile. We are yet to see the quality of Diablo Immortal at its release though.
Diablo Immortal will release for mobile platforms.
