It’s time to head back to the Black Hills Forest, but don’t worry, you can at least use the light from your Switch’s screen to illuminate your trek through the dark woods.
Already available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, Blair Witch will be making its way to Nintendo Switch on June 25th.
In celebration of the release, a brand-new trailer was released featuring never-before-seen gameplay from the Switch version of the game.
Given the Switch’s hardware capacity, the graphics do appear to be scaled down, but this isn’t really anything new for Switch users. The down-scaling likely won’t impact the game’s immersiveness or horror elements, but is just something to be expected.
Last year’s psychological survival horror game - developed by Bloober Team - is finally making its way to Nintendo’s portable console, allowing players to take in the critically-acclaimed game set within the world of the 1999 film, The Blair Witch Project.
Blair Witch (the game) takes place in 1996 - two years after the events of the original film - with players taking on the role of a former police officer, Ellis, along with his canine companion, Bullet, as they investigate the Maryland-based Black Hills Forest in search of a missing boy. Of course, this isn’t your average forest, being filled with supernatural horrors that will force Ellis to face his own fears and troubled past.
The Switch version will launch with the “Good Boy Pack” update, allowing players to customize Bullet’s physical attributes such as fur and eye color and added animations. The port will also include Bullet’s “Super Rex” mini-game, while featuring HD Rumble, TV Mode, Tabletop Mode, Handheld Mode, and Touch Screen Support (in the game menu).
For those who are always on-the-go (well, as on-the-go you can be right now), Blair Witch on Switch would be well worth your time, especially considering that the title was one of our favorites in the horror genre from last year.
Just maybe don’t play it in the basement.
