Pearl Abyss continues to build upon Black Desert Mobile by finally allowing players to Awaken their classes in game. Awakening characters is the progression step that boosts their abilities and allows for the use of new skills and weapons. This is one of the most anticipated features of the game and could be considered as a key moment in bridging the mobile version of the game to the same great levels of play available on PC and console.
Activating the quest is a simple process. Players need to have first reached level 60, and then go to the Story section in the Menu after having received a Southwest Calpheon Pass. The full list of normal classes and their awakened upgrades are as follows:
- Warrior: longsword and shield – Berserker: greatsword and seal Ranger: longbow and dagger – Windbreaker: Kamasylven sword and feather Witch: staff and dagger – Invoker: Aad Sphera and magic tome Giant: axe and ornamental knot – Destroyer: iron buster and cannonballs Valkyrie: longsword and shield – Lancer: lancia and armband Sorceress: amulet and talisman – Reaper: scythe and soul orb Dark Knight: Kriegsmesser and ornamental knot – Phantasma: vediant and magic blade Striker: Gauntlet and Vambrace – No change
Apart from the ability to Awaken one’s class, there is another piece of exciting news for both new and existing players. Pearl Abyss has added the Mega Growth Boost as an independent instance, providing a massive 500% combat experience bonus and a 300% field item drop rate. The effect is applied for a total of 14 days and lasts all the way until level 60. This can be turned off if a player chooses, and the character will return to a non-instanced area with other players who do not have the boost.
This is a perfect boost for new players who may consider it too late to dive into a new MMORPG, which can seem intimidating in the amount of grinding normally needed to reach the level cap, only then to begin the process of Awakening to reach the true endgame. This is also great for existing players who may have felt the same way about the time needed to level an alt, but who can now do so relatively quickly.
