We have no idea what Cloud Chamber’s BioShock game is going to look like, but at least now we know a little bit about what won’t be there. According to recent job postings tied to the project, BioShock 4 will take place in neither Rapture nor Columbia, introducing players to a location that’s entirely new to the series.

Based on Cloud Chamber’s job listings on Greenhouse, the team is looking for new employees to help “breathe life into a new and fantastical world.” The posts also ask for experience in Unreal Engine 4, and a drive to work on a “stunning narrative and systems-driven experience.”

Although BioShock wasn’t specifically mentioned, this more than likely points to the new entry in the series. Cloud Chamber is less than a year old and has openly stated that it’s working on a BioShock game, so the chances are slim that another title is being planned at the same time.

When Irrational Games introduced us to the fallen underwater city of Rapture in 2007, a new bar was set for creative world building in video games. Then despite the odds, the developer arguably met that bar again with a massive city in the clouds named Columbia when BioShock Infinite was released in 2013.

Now Cloud Chamber, a studio that was only announced last December, is hoping to introduce a third dystopian world that will hopefully match the creative milestone left behind by Irrational. With veterans that had previously worked on the earlier games, and a handful of other talented developers, the team seems confident in that possibility.

There’s no telling when the next BioShock will be released, but reports indicate that the game has been in development since as early as 2015. Still, it seems as if Cloud Chamber will be taking on the majority of the work, and even a reveal feels at least a year or two away.

That being said, a new BioShock game is certain to get a lot of gamers excited and we’ll likely see anticipation continue to build over the next few years. While designing an entirely new location will likely be a serious challenge, here’s to hoping Cloud Chamber can pull it off.
