Biomutant might not be the top-selling Steam game anymore, but that hasn’t stopped developer Experiment 101 from updating Biomutant so it’s the best darned furry Fallout game it can be. Last week’s patch brought a ton of fixes to consoles, and this week’s update brings even more fixes to both PC and PS4, although Xbox One players will have to wait a bit longer.
So what’s in update 1.5? For starters, PC players now have FOV sliders for both horizontal and vertical. The level cap has been increased once again from 50 to 100, and loot has been tweaked to have greater variety at the high-end of the spectrum. Reduced duplicate items and improved superb item variety will also include several new items with very high stats, such as added relic and legendary weapon parts that will start dropping after the player reaches level 50.
Several quality-of-life changes have also arrived in 1.5, such as a setting to hide the player’s helmet if they prefer to look at their adorable critter’s furry face, as well as a new scrap option upon looting a new item. Tribe weapons have also been rebalanced so that later weapons deal more damage to better fit the player’s progression through the story.
The narrator has once again been hushed slightly by toning down the “just a few moves left” line during puzzle sequences, and the Conscience voice-over has received several fixes so that the animation doesn’t run in slow-motion when offering an Ark seat to NPCs.
Perhaps the biggest quality of life improves come to the game’s melee combat. A new lock-on targeting feature will ensure your character remains facing a targeted enemy, while new animation canceling will get you out of certain melee animations via dodging. These two moves alone will vastly improve Biomutant’s melee combat to hopefully feel at least as good as its ranged combat.
Update 1.5 also brings pages upon pages of bug fixes, which you can read over on the THQ Nordic website. Biomutant is available now for PS4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.
