Biomutant allows the player to fine-tune their character in many different ways, with the primary method being through the game’s many different abilities and Mutations. Every Mutation and Wung-Fu ability in Biomutant can change the dynamics of encounters. It can open up the game quite a bit, especially with the later, more powerful skills.

In Biomutant, players can mix and match different Mutations and unlock Wung-Fu abilities and Perks to give them a considerable advantage in encounters. Mutations, however, are dictated by the player’s Aura standing, meaning specific Mutations are only available if the player’s Aura is light or dark, but this only affects the Psi-Power Mutations. Everything else in Biomutant gets unlocked via Upgrade Points or Bio Points.

3 Biogenetics

Biogenetics is abilities in Biomutant unlocked by Biopoints, which are obtained by opening containers or defeating Biocreeps. These points are also obtained at various Nucleus Tower sites scattered around the world.

2 Psi-Powers

Psi-Powers are the only abilities in Biomutant that are gated by the game’s Aura system. The player unlocks these powers via Psi-Points, which get earned via dialogue choices, Shrines, captives, and civilians.

1 Wung-Fu

Wung-Fu is essentially the combat outside of Biomutant’s Mutation/Ability system. This is where things like blades, hammers, and guns come into play. Wung-Fu will be the key focus for my players in Biomutant.

Close Combat

Close Combat refers to the Biomutant’s melee combat. Players will be able to spend Upgrade Points to learn new abilities through a large selection of melee-focused movesets.

Unarmed

Unarmed focuses on combat encounters where the player doesn’t have any weapons equipped—nothing quite like throwing paws.

One-Handed Slash

One-Handed Slash focuses on the game’s many one-handed weapons. One-Handed Slash is for the players who don’t want to engage in the Dual Wielding mechanic in the game.

Dual Wield Melee

Dual Wield Melee focuses on the player’s ability to wield two one-handed weapons at the same time. These abilities concentrate on speed and evasion, primarily.

Two-Handed Slash

The Two-Handed Slash Wung-Fu are abilities focused around Biomutant’s large weapons. Weapons that require two hands to use, such as greatswords, hammers, lances, etc.

Ranged Combat

Ranged Combat in Biomutant focuses on the game’s guns, covering everything from pistols to fully automatic rifles and pretty much anything in between.

Guns

Guns in Biomutant are small-arms such as handguns and revolvers. These guns are typically helpful in close-range engagements.

Dual Wield Guns

Dual Wielding Guns in Biomutant is only available for handguns and revolvers but opens up their playstyle quite a bit.

Rifles

Rifles in Biomutant are slow-firing semi-automatic rifles that are great at long-range engagements.

Automatic Rifles

Automatic Rifles in Biomutant excel at close to mid-range engagements and can even be helpful at long-range encounters, depending on the weapon.

Shotguns

Shotguns are devastating in close-quarter situations and offer the best damage output compared to any other ranged weapon in those engagements.
