If you can believe it, The Elder Scrolls: Blades is finally available on Switch. Announced as coming on May 12, 2020, before silently missing that date, the game is now up for download from the eShop for the low, low price of “free.” Released as a free-to-play title on mobile devices, you can also spend $15 to get the “quick start” bundle to get some exclusive gear.

That gear comes in the form of items “once owned by the notorious Bloodfall King, Durak gro-Batul.” You’ll also receive a plethora of scrolls, building materials, gems, and gold to kickstart your journey. It doesn’t sound too bad, though it likely won’t last you for all that long.

If you’ve already started an adventure on the mobile version of Blades, this new Switch release will feature cross-save progression. You’ll be able to play at home on your console, then upload your save and continue on your phone/tablet. That’s kind of redundant with the Switch’s portability factor but it is still a nice gesture.

What remains to be seen is how well this port runs. The version I sampled at E3 2019 was fine enough, though not spectacular in any manner. Dedicated buttons go a long way to making this feel better to play, so that will likely be the more important factor.
