We’re just over a week away from the official reveal of Battlefield 6, or what EA has simply titled “Battlefield.” The game will be revealed on June 9 according to the Battlefield Twitter account, which presented that info with a 10-second sound bite.

Based on the cyber-techno sounds, the new Battlefield will take place in the near future, confirming earlier leaks.

As with many past iterations of the franchise Battlefield 2021 is gaming’s worst-kept secret at the moment. Images have leaked months ago showing Battlefield 6 as a return to the modern battlefield, showcasing soldiers in MV-22 Ospreys storming a beach where a very modern-style rocket is awaiting blast off. The internal cinematic that was leaked just last week confirmed those images as well as providing more confirmation of an earlier sound file that also managed to escape EA’s offices.

According to one insider, we’ve seen 80% of what EA will reveal on June 9. Of course, we won’t know that for sure until we see what EA and developer DICE have to offer.

Battlefield 6 is expected to release in the last quarter of 2021, which means either just before Christmas or perhaps early next year. It’ll be available on last-gen and current-gen consoles, although Andrew CEO Andrew Wilson promised a “truly next-gen experience” despite straddling both generations.

Tom Henderson, another Battlefield insider, recently tweeted that EA plans to host a technical alpha test for Battlefield in July. The announcement will be made through EA Play, and will likely be limited to EA Play subscribers at least initially.

The Battlefield announcement comes just a day ahead of the start of Summer Games Fest and just a few days before the start of E3. EA won’t be taking part in this year’s digital E3 presentation, but the company will be part of Summer Games Fest, meaning we’re likely to see more of Battlefield as the summer wears on.
