DICE revealed a bit of Battlefield 2042 gameplay during today’s Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase, giving us a look at its massive 128-player battles. The gameplay trailer also showed off some of the weapons and vehicles available to players, along with a grappling hook that will help navigate the chaos.
The gameplay is all pre-alpha, so expect a bit of it to change ahead of its release on October 22. Still, this is our first extended look at the new Battlefield game in action – and it certainly didn’t disappoint. You can check out the three-minute trailer below:
For the first time in Battlefield history, you’ll be able to take part in sprawling 128-player battles. DICE said that seven maps will be available at launch, each one offering an ever-changing experience as buildings crumble and the environment deteriorates as battles rage on.
“Unleash your combat creativity through a full roster of cutting-edge weapons, vehicles, jets, helis, and all-new equipment inspired by the near-future of 2042,” DICE announced. “Choose your role on the battlefield and form hand-tailored squads through the new Specialist system. Based on Battlefield’s four Classes, Specialists have one unique gadget and trait – but the rest of the loadout is fully customizable.”
Battlefield 2042 will be available on October 22.
