Indie developer Inti Creates has been really busy over the last year. In addition to working on Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2, the 2D powerhouse announced at BitSummit last night that production of Azure Striker GUNVOLT 3 is currently underway. That’s something I didn’t expect to hear come up again.

Unlike Curse of the Moon 2, GUNVOLT 3 currently does not have a release date and is fairly early into development. Confirmed for Switch only thus far, the project sees the return of director Yoshihisa Tsuda from previous GUNVOLT titles. Acclaimed developer Keiji Inafune (of Mega Man fame) will also be collaborating on the project like before.

The trailer doesn’t give us that much to go off of, but this latest sequel will see the introduction of a new character. Named Kirin, she clearly is taking some inspiration from a famous Monster Hunter monster. She’ll do battle with electricity and traditional Japanese curse repellants.

Other than that, this looks like another GUNVOLT game. That’s a good thing, especially with a lack of proper Mega Man in our lives. Capcom didn’t do a bad job with Mega Man 11 (in fact, that is one of the better main entries), but we still don’t have enough Blue Bomber in our lives.
