This year the content-rich WWE 2K series has added more wrestlers, more moves, and even more ways to play this year than ever before. As a result, WWE 2K18 is a wrestling game for the fans. The game probably won’t pull in any new fans that aren’t lovers of wrestling, those who have stuck with the series will see that it is an improvement in nearly every department – see our very own summary of the game here in our 8 Best and 7 Of The Worst Things About WWE 2K18.

There are aspects of the game that could do with some fine-tuning, this year’s entry has been one of the most solid WWE titles in years. As a testament to the developer’s hard work, fans of the series are still finding new things to do and see in last year’s entry, and now that WWE 2K18 is in their own words the biggest WWE game in history we will continue uncover more of the game’s secrets.

WWE 2K18 has been out a little under two weeks now and the continuing on from our 20 Awesome Things You Didn’t Know You Can Do In WWE 2K18 we have discovered even more secrets, exploits and creative ways to play the game. So here are 20 more things you didn’t about WWE 2K18.

21 The New Squash Matches

New to this year’s entry is the ability to destroy your opponents in the same way that Goldberg did at the peak of his fame in WCW during the late 1990s. The easiest way to do this is to go to the game’s options menu screen and select Game Balancing. Then press the R1 button (RB on the Xbox One) to get to Balancing 2, scroll to the bottom of the screen until you reach Squash Match Rate and increase the bar to the maximum setting.

Then select a high-rated wrestler like Goldberg, Roman Reigns, John Cena, or Braun Strowman and pit them against a weaker opponent. Hit them with a charging move and within a few hits your character will receive a huge buff and their signature and finishers will activate within a few hits, ending the match in less than 60 seconds.

20 Earn VC The Easy Way

Bugs and glitches aside, fans of WWE 2K18 will see that it is a noticeable improvement on previous installments. However, the game’s biggest drawback comes in the form of unlocking loot boxes. Although you don’t use any real money to unlock them they’re incredibly dull to earn and take a ridiculous amount to of time to VC to open just one.

The quickest way to do this is to set up a Squash Match in the options mentioned above once again selecting a high-rated wrestler, only this time make sure your opponent is the weakest in the game someone like Aiden English will do. Then repeatedly destroy them in squash matches by selecting rematch and the game will award you a decent amount of VC for a 60-second match every time.

19 Super Powerbomb From The Hell In A Cell

Some longtime fans will notice that some of the finishers from the top of a Hell In The Cell cage featured in previous games are missing. While this is a bit of a shame, 2k Games have sort of made for this with the new carry gameplay mechanic in WWE 2K18. The carry system allows players to get very creative performing extreme moves in the game.

One of the best moves in the game is performing a super powerbomb from the top of the cell. To do this get your opponent in the carry position walk over to the edge of the cage and press X (or A on the Xbox) for an awesome powerbomb through the announcer’s table.

18 Downloading Alternative Attires From Community Creations

Keeping up to date with the soap opera-like nature of WWE storylines is a near impossible task for the developers at 2K. Although they try to add in some important key moments at the very last minute with DLC – the addition of the Hardy Boyz being a prime example – the developers can’t possibly keep up with all the changes wrestlers make to their characters.

However, one clever way to get around this comes via the fantastic community creations. Here gamers are creating and adding up to date attires for their characters for others who don’t quite have the time, patience or the skill to download for themselves.

Once you’ve downloaded your desired character with their updated attire, go into Creations, select Superstar then WWE Superstar.

Now select Attire, and Attire Slot 2 and the select Import Attire and Custom Attire now look for your downloaded character and transfer their attire over to your superstar.

17 Play As The Million Dollar Man In Tournament Mode

This workaround doesn’t just work for “The Million Dollar Man” Ted Dibiase but for all managers too, but for sake of this guide, we’re going to focus on Dibiase who for some inexplicable reason isn’t in the game as a wrestler even though Ric Flair is.

Be aware though as this only works in Tournament mode. Before you start you need to create an unedited superstar and save a custom championship to him. Then create a Tournament (also known as a Gold Rush) for that title.

Go back into My Superstar select Ted and edit attire and give him some wrestling attire, making sure that you click No when prompted to Use As Alternative Attire.

Then go into select Ted in creations/superstars and Duplicate Superstar and copy it over to your unedited superstar.

Finally, continue the Tournament and Dibiase will be the champion and you can wrestle him or wrestle using him in the finals.

16 Signature Entrances For Wrestlers Not In The Game

One of the best things about being able to create your characters and download community content is the ability to be able to bring in wrestlers who aren’t on the roster or even contracted to different organizations.

The developers have even taken steps to recreate those wrestler’s move sets and entrances. For example here are a few that you can choose from.

Alpha Omega = Kenny Omega

Silverback 1 and 2 = Ryback

Fearless = Pentagon Jr.

Generic Superstar 6 = Eli Drake

Generic Superstar 8 = Austin Aries

Hall Of Fame Inductee = Bob Backlund

Strickland = Shane Strickland

Super Hero = The Hurricane

Top Enforcer = Arn Anderson

There’s definitely a lot more than this but, it’s definitely worth playing around with to discover some very recognizable move sets for your custom characters.

15 Using The Fire Extinguisher

Backstage brawls add an extra layer of replayability to the game through adding lots of ways to use weapons and the environment to attack your opponent with.

New to this year’s game is the ability to attack your opponents with a fire extinguisher which serves as more than just simple background decoration.

The easiest place to find a fire extinguisher is near the parking lot area, and all you need to do is simply approach the extinguisher and press L1 (or LB on the Xbox controller). You can use the spray up to three times are use it as a melee weapon.

14 You Can Play As Colonel Sanders

If you’ve been watching the WWE Network, you’ll have no doubt noticed that there is a lot of KFC adverts on there featuring wrestlers dressed as Colonel Sanders, most notably Dolph Ziggler and Shawn Michaels.

This may be a silly and crude way to advertise its fried chicken to the masses, it’s still worth knowing that there is a secret Colonel Sanders wrestler in there of sorts.

If you wanted to stick with using either Ziggler or Michaels for the Colonel you can simply edit their attire settings from the custom superstar mode and select the full Colonel outfit and save it to their alternate attire. Additionally, you can do this with any character you choose not just Michaels or Ziggler.

13 Kevin Owens’ Updated Entrance

“The Face of America” gimmick was a short-lived theme that unfortunately found its way into this year’s version of WWE 2K18. Thanks to the massive range of customizable options we can get an entrance that closely resembles the red entrance theme he uses now.

You can try as many formulas as you what until you get your desired entrance, but here’s a good formula to get you started:

Go to Custom Entrance/Easy Creation

Motion: Kevin Owens 1

Title Motion: Kevin Owens Champion

Entrance Music: Kevin Owens

Titantron Movie: Kevin Owens 3

Ribbon Movie: Nikki Bella

Wall & Banner Movie: Sami Zayn

Stage Ramp, Apron & Ring Post Movie: Rhyno

12 OMG Moment On The Ladder From The Carry Position

Many of the wrestlers in the game are able to perform their finishers from the new carry position. Thanks to the new mechanic gamers are now able to position themselves perfectly for some OMG moments in the game that was at times a little awkward in last year’s entry.

One of the best OMG moments is to perform a powerbomb through the ladder bridge. This is now easier thanks to the new carry feature. Make sure you have a ladder bridge set up ready, and the match’s momentum is in your favor, and now you can walk your opponent to the ladder wait for the OMG prompt (not the Finisher prompt) and hit your OMG move through the ladder.

11 Special Rusev And Lana Entrance

A new feature added to this year’s game is the ability to have Lana introduce Rusev just like she has done in real WWE events. It’s just another one of those nice little touches that helps add an extra layer of authenticity to the game making it more and more like the sports entertainment show on wrestling fans TV screens every week.

To get Lana to introduce Rusev in his unique entrance all you need to do is simply select Rusev and have Lana as his manager. Then you’ll be gifted with a new cutscene featuring Lana personally introducing and announcing Rusev instead of the usual ring announcer.

10 Patch 1.03 Opened Up New Intros And Music

Fans waiting for the WWE 2K18 patch got a little more than they bargained for when it dropped in late October. In addition to all the bug fixes, the patch laid the groundwork in preparation for the wrestling game’s first downloadable content drop.

However, 2K mistakenly uploaded all the entrances and music for upcoming DLC wrestlers Aleister Black, Drew McIntyre, Elias Samson, Lars Sullivan, and Ruby Riot.

So for now at least until 2K patches it out again, you can download those DLC characters in the community creations menu and give them their proper entrances and music. This is good news for those who didn’t purchase the season pass.

As with all glitches like this, there’s a distinct possibility that 2k will patch it out in the next available update.

9 New Ways To Release The Pin

Releasing the pin in wrestling games isn’t something that’s particularly new. However, this year instead of your wrestler visibly looking like he’s let the move go, WWE 2K18 has added the ability make your opponent look like they are kicking out on their own so a match doesn’t so one-sided.

To do this, all you need to do is, instead of pressing L1 (or LB on the Xbox controller) in the pinning position, press the D-Pad in any direction and your opponent will kick out or get a shoulder up just before the three count. It’s a simple addition, but true wrestling fans will definitely appreciate it.

8 Rising Taunt From Behind

In the past, when you have a stored finishing move you need your position your character, so they can hit a finisher or a signature move accurately. Although the A.I can sometimes set up your opponent so that they can hit their move. This can look a look a little stiff and awkward for characters who perform their signatures from behind.

This year a nice little feature 2K has added is the ability to perform a wake-up taunt from and control the position using the R1 (or the RB on the Xbox One) button in addition to the wake-up taunt allowing for more control over the taunts and positioning.

7 Slams On The Ring Apron, Post And Barriers

Once again the game’s new carry feature and it’s endless possibilities of moves can’t be underestimated. With the new carry feature, you can use the environment against your opponent in more creative ways than ever before.

This is evident when you take the battle to ringside, as you can use the ring barrier, the ring apron, and the ring post to pull off some pretty painful looking moves.

To activate them, put your opponents in one of the various carry positions (each position gives you a different move) and walk them to your desired location and watch as your wrestler performs massive damage with a move slamming your opponent into the environment.

6 Super Ladder Combos

The WWE 2K series has always allowed gamers to get creative but those who love the game but don’t have endless hours to experiment may miss out on a lot of what makes the wrestling series so much fun outside of its flaws.

Lovers of the ladder matches will be happy to know that they’re improving every year, it’s now easier to position the ladders and climb them. One example of this is being able to set up a ladder bridge outside of the ring and another inside of the ring.

From the top of the ladder, you perform super finishing moves, like the RKO or the AA from the top of the ladder through the bridged ladder. You can also do with tables that are positioned correctly too.

5 Triple Power Bomb Through The Table

In our previous article the things you didn’t know you could do in WWE 2K18 we mentioned that you could reunite The Shield and even perform The Shield triple powerbomb as an OMG moment for an easy win.

In WWE 2K18 you can take the triple powerbomb even further in hardcore matches, TLC matches and Falls Count Anywhere matches. Here you can set up a table in the middle of the ring and position like in the above image and perform The Shield ‘OMG’ triple powerbomb moment right through the table. It’s an awesome feature to see surface in one of the best wrestling games in ages and ages.

4 Super Moves From The Stage

In the same way, the new carry system allows for super moves to be performed from the top of the Hell In The Cell by power-bombing opponents from the top of the cage through the announcer’s table.

You can take these extreme moves up the ramp on to the stage too. Performing stage moves is a new feature for WWE 2K18, and you can even get creative with the feature by taking tables and setting them so you can perform the super powerbomb from the edge of the stage and through the table for some extreme moments. Yet another awesome part of WWE 2K18.

3 Seeing Triple…H?

Those who read our previous list of things you didn’t know you could do will be aware that there is a Dusty Rhodes Special tag team tournament to compete in. What you may not know is you can set up a really bizarre cutscene by creating a tag team of the two versions of Triple H.

To set up this odd yet memorable create a team using both versions of Triple H and work your way through the tournament to win the finals. Once you do you’ll be awarded the trophy by none other than Triple H. This means you’ll have three Triple H’s celebrating in the ring at the same time.

2 Performing More Accurate High-Risk Moves

A new addition to this year’s game is the ability to set up more accurate and better timed high risk moves from the top of the turnbuckle. The normal animation and set up for the move usually has your character running and executing a high-risk move straight away essentially taking the control away.

However, you can manually time the top turnbuckle moves by approaching the corner and holding down the R1 button (RB on the Xbox One). This way your wrestler can position himself on the turnbuckle and perform taunts in a similar manner to the AKI games like Wrestlemania 2000 and No Mercy on the N64.
