Premier Counter-Strike team Astralis is planning to add former North member Jakob “JUGi” Hansen to their growing roster, as per a report from Danish outlet TV2.dk. This addition would make JUGi the seventh member of the Astralis lineup, after the team solidified plans to sign sixth-man Patrick “es3tag” Hansen in March.
Jakob “JUGi” Hansen gained recognition as an up-and-coming AWPer while playing with Heroic, placing 3-4th at IEM Katowice 2017 and second at DreamHack Open Atlanta. JUGi joined OpTic Gaming in April of 2018, reaching a semi-final finish at StarSeries Season 6 and competing in the FACEIT London Major. The sniper transferred to North in 2019, placing 3-4th at the ECS Season 7 Finals, 12-14th at the StarLadder Berlin Major, and taking a victory at DreamHack Open Sevilla.
JUGi was removed from North’s active roster in January of 2020, and became a free agent in April. Astralis, who are in the process of adding a sixth member in Patrick “es3tag” Hansen, are now reportedly adding JUGi as a seventh. The five main members of Astralis are widely regarded as the best lineup to ever compete in CS:GO. The team has won three consecutive Majors since adding Emil “Magisk” Reif, along with countless other premier tournaments.
This lineup expansion is currently unconfirmed, but the news comes just days after a DBLTAP report revealed Astralis were looking to add at least one additional player. Should JUGi join the team, he could stand as a backup in DreamHack Masters Spring Europe, which is set to begin later this month.
