Ubisoft and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla continue to tease fans with little bits and pieces of news and information, with each one offering something new to look forward to once the game releases. Previously, it was announced that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla could have a bigger map than Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Now, Ubisoft has decided to talk more about the game’s structure and approaches in regards to problem solving.

While speaking with Kotaku, creative director Ashraf Ismail stated how Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will have a “very different” structure than previous installments in the series, and how that will play an important role in the world around the main character. Although no specific details were given, Ismail did say that the game’s home base area will be something players will need to defend and keep secure from enemies. As far as how that is going to happen, the creative director said that players will be able to forge alliances and various partnerships between factions that will be present in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

Based on Ismail’s explanation, it seems that players will be able to use diplomacy to their advantage. “When you set out into the world, […] you get embroiled into politics,” Ismail said. “You get caught up into a journey. We give options within that. So sometimes, yes, it means that you can, let’s say, negotiate to resolve something.” In other words, force and combat will not be the only approach to problem solving in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. If an opportunity ever arises where talking things out and negotiating are a much better option than fighting, then it seems players will be able to use that in order to work things out and benefit from that. Also, since players will be able to forge alliances with other factions, diplomacy is the only logical and most appropriate approach.

Since Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is set to release this holiday season, there are still plenty of details to uncover. With Ubisoft’s Ubisoft Forward summer event scheduled for July 12, more information is likely to be revealed about Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s game structure, mechanics, home base area, and a lot more.
